“The knowledge gained under the mentorship of experienced professors of the Georgian Technical University and familiarization with the latest industrial trends helped me develop the necessary skills that I successfully use in my work environment,” says GTU doctoral student Lasha Kavelashvili.
Lasha Kavelashvili completed his bachelor’s degree at the GTU Faculty of Construction in 2009, and his master’s degree in 2023, and is currently studying for a doctorate in water resources engineering. At the same time, he works as the Deputy Head of the Operation and Maintenance Department at the United Water Supply Company of Georgia.
As the doctoral student states, the Technical University played an important role in his professional formation and career development because it was with the support and involvement of the university that he completed an internship at the company, started working, and, along with improving his academic qualifications, was able to advance in his position.
“As a doctoral student at the Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University, who also completed bachelor’s and master’s studies at the alma mater, I deeply understood the important role water supply systems play in the construction sector. The development of this field is necessary to ensure the sustainability, safety, and efficiency of modern infrastructure. The Georgian Technical University provides a high standard of development in this direction. This field is the backbone of urban development, which directly affects public health, environmental protection, and the overall quality of life.
The academic path I took at the Georgian Technical University significantly helped in my professional development. The university provided me with a solid theoretical foundation in hydraulic engineering, environmental protection, and modern construction technologies. Through practical training, laboratory work, and collaboration with industrial partners, I was allowed to apply my knowledge in the real world, which improved my skills and deepened my skills in water infrastructure. In addition, being exposed to the latest industry trends under the guidance of experienced professors helped me develop the necessary skills I successfully use in my work environment.
As a graduate of the Georgian Technical University and currently a doctoral student, I am grateful for the knowledge and experience I have gained and for the fact that, along with my studies, I am continuing to shape my professional path and I have a desire to make a significant contribution to the development of the field,” says Lasha Kavelashvili.
