Student Gvantsa Gigashvili Became the Winner of “GTU Star”
The final round of the student music competition “GTU Star” was held at the Georgian Technical University, where the winner was revealed. By the jury’s decision, a “GTU Star” student of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering - Gvantsa Gigashvili won. 

The “GTU Star” project was implemented with the support of the university administration, organized by the Department of Student Services, Culture, and Sports and the Student Self-Government. The project’s supporters and sponsors are: the company “RMG”, the perfume chain “Lutecia”, the jewelry chain “Lusso”, the transport rental company “Willy Bass” and the company “Vandergrund”.

The Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, Chancellor, Professor Carlo Kopaliani, Vice-Rectors - Tamar Tsereteli and Tamar Lominadze, President of the GTU Supervisory Board Professor Zurab Gudavadze, deans of faculties, scientific and academic circles, guests and students attended the final concert which was held in the Ivane Javakhishvili Great Hall of the university administrative building.

The competition organizers dedicated the final concert of “GTU Star” to the leader of the youth of Georgian Technical University in the 1990s, Goga Giorgobiani, who would have turned 61 on the day of the competition final.

The final concert featured 5 finalist students - Dea Pachulia, Gvantsa Gigashvili, Nutsa Khujadze, Ana Gigashvili, and Anamaria Museliani.

The finalists were selected from among the competing students by the jury, which consisted of musicians: Khatuna Zhordania, and Ketevan Odzelashvili, singers: Giorgi Dzotsenidze, Zurab Khachidze, Zaza Mamaladze, and Liana Targamadze, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy of Tbilisi State University, based on their exceptional musical, pop and performing skills.

The finalists performed solo and duet performances of Georgian and foreign hits. The concert was met with standing ovations. The performers were supported by cheering groups from their faculties.

The jury recognized Gvantsa Gigashvili, a student of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, as the best performer of the competition and awarded her the title of “GTU Star”.

The jury awarded the second place to Nutsa Khujadze, a student of the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies, and Social Sciences.

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, congratulated the “GTU Star” on its victory and welcomed the contestants. As the Rector noted, the rich cultural traditions of the university continue through the implementation of such projects.

Your determination, hard work, talent, and love for music turned this competition into a real celebration. I would like to thank the competition organizers, supporters, and jury members, whose efforts contributed to the successful implementation of the “GTU Star” project. Thanks to the guests, as well as student teams from various faculties, who so tirelessly supported their favorite performers.

The “GTU Star” competition once again confirms the respect for the rich cultural and creative traditions of the Georgian Technical University, which contributes not only to academic and scientific progress but also to the popularization of culture and art among young people, develops teamwork, and increases self-confidence. With such projects, new stars of the stage are born. It is precisely with such initiatives that the Georgian Technical University inspires talented young people in many ways. By implementing such projects, we are once again convinced that our students not only become leaders in engineering but also stand out with special creative, performing, or sports skills.

Once again, I congratulate our students, I wish them to never stop developing and always take advantage of the opportunities on the path of life. I am sure that the “GTU Star” competition will open the way for many talented students in the future,” said David Gurgenidze.

The companies supporting the competition awarded various prizes to the winners, the second-place winner, and the finalists of “GTU Star”. The company “RMG” presented a cash prize of 2000 GEL to the winner of “GTU Star” student Gvantsa Gigashvili.

For information, “GTU Star” is an exclusive project of the Georgian Technical University, which has been implemented annually since 2013. During the Covid pandemic, the project was temporarily suspended. Its renewal, with the support of the university’s rector and administration, became possible in 2024.

This year’s competition was held in several stages and any student of Georgian Technical University could participate.
