At the Georgian Technical University, organized by the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, over two days, two panels held a scientific forum - “Technology Challenges and Progress Prospects - 2025”. 

The scientific event, hosted by the Zhiuli Shartava Teaching and Research Laboratory Complex of Techniques and Technologies of the Georgian Technical University, was opened by Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Lominadze.

The Vice-Rector welcomed the participating scientists, researchers, and students and emphasized the forum’s importance. According to Tamar Lominadze, such forums reveal boundless opportunities for academic cooperation and technological progress and prepare the ground for sustainable solutions and innovative development.

“It is a great honor to open the scientific forum – “Technological Challenges and Progress Prospects – 2025”, which brings together renowned scientists and experts who contribute to the development of modern technologies, and young researchers who will determine the technological transformation of the future. I welcome the students - in the future, they will be successfully employed and continue their research in this field. Our gathering is important because we are discussing the future of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in our country and, at the same time, sharing international experiences.

In an era of technological progress, we stand at a crossroads where innovation comes with great responsibility. The challenges we face today in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and technology development require not only the intellectual capabilities of scientists and researchers but also an ethical approach.

Forums like these are the boundless possibilities of academic collaboration and technological progress are visible, paving the way for discoveries, sustainable solutions, and innovative development. This event is not only a platform for educational and scientific discussion - it is our joint aspiration to develop research collaboration. The research will contribute to a better understanding of the digital world and we are sure, it will have an impact on industries and society.

On behalf of the Georgian Technical University and its Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we would like to thank the scientists participating in the forum, the organizer of the event - the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, the supporters - the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the University of Brandenburg Wildau in Germany, the companies - Tbilisi AI LAB, Cyber Trust, Impel, Helio.Ai - for their contribution to the preparation of the event. We wish the scientific forum and its participants success,” Tamar Lominadze noted in her speech.

The forum participants were welcomed by the expert of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia on digital education and artificial intelligence, former Director General of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation, Doctor of Law, Professor Zviad Gabisonia, Professor Mikhail Müller of the University of Brandenburg Wildau (Germany), and Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Professor Taliko Zhvania.

As the Dean noted, the two-day forum program will include two important panels, where in-depth discussions will be held on current technological challenges and related perspectives such digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity.

“In the age of technology, where data and digital solutions are the main basis of business, education, and state governance, holding such scientific forums in the university space is extremely important. For two days, the scientific event will unite scientists, young researchers, experts, students, and schoolchildren. Interesting reports and presentations will be held, and we will discuss theoretical achievements and the practical application of these achievements, with students, we will engage in dynamic conversations that will enrich our visions and give impetus to the development of new directions. Our students and schoolchildren interested in technology will present their projects and share their solutions,” said Taliko Zhvania.

On the first day of the scientific forum, within the first panel, reports were presented by Doctor of Law, Professor Zviad Gabisonia - on the topic: “Challenges of Artificial Intelligence Regulations”; Professor Mikhail Muller - on the topic: “Digital Transformation and Industry Challenges Based on the Example of Germany”; Professor of the GTU Faculty of Business Technologies - Mariam Tsatsanashvili - on the topic: “High-Tech University”; Executive Director of the Information Security Association (GISA), GTU doctoral student Giorgi Iashvili - on the topic: “Cryptography in Crisis: Ensuring Security in the Quantum World”; Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence of the GTU Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Professor Mariam Chkhaidze - on the topic: “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity and Digital Education”; Cybersecurity expert and researcher, Assistant Professor at GTU, Dr. Avtandil Bichnigauri - on the topic: “Cybersecurity Trends in Georgia”.

On the second day of the scientific event, within the second panel, reports were made by Natia Kukhilava, co-founder and technical director of Helio.Ai - on the topic: “Recruiting in the AI era - how candidate selection is changing”; Rafael Kalandadze, senior researcher in deep learning at Impel - on the topic: “Georgian Artificial Intelligence: Challenges of low-resource language and an action plan”; Tatia Tsmindashvili, co-founder and technical director of the research organization Tbilisi AI Lab - on the topic: “Using LLMs as assistants - problems, solutions, and approaches”; Giorgi Mushkudiani, blockchain security researcher - on the topic: “Blockchain security”; Giorgi Patsatsia, doctoral student and invited lecturer at GTU - on the topic: “Using blockchain in the wine industry”.
