Specialists from the well-known Spanish company CYPE will hold master classes on software issues in the construction sector for students and professors of the Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University.
In this regard, the Chancellor of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Carlo Kopaliani, and Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, met with Carlos Fernandez, the Technical Director of the Spanish company CYPE, and representatives of the same company, who are on a working visit to the university.
The meeting, which was held at the university, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Construction, Professor Zurab Gvishiani, Deputy Dean, Professor Gina Gureshidze, Faculty Manager, Professor Zaal Tsinadze, Head of the University International Office Tea Murvanidze, Head of the Quality Management Service, Professor Ivane Jagodnishvili, Rector’s Advisor Konstantine Basilashvili, Director of the International Sales Department of the company CYPE - Vicente Casteli, Technical Support Engineer Bekir Abderrahmen, and Sales Manager in Georgia Dina Pevneva.
The Vice-Rector introduced the guests to the history of the Georgian Technical University and the educational programs of the engineering and technological direction, as well as spoke about the scientific and technological achievements of the university and plans.
As Tamar Tsereteli noted, university scientists are actively involved in all global experiments and research carried out in the world’s largest scientific centers and organizations, including CERN in Switzerland, KEK and JPARC in Japan, FERMILAB in the United States of America.
Also, the university researchers and academic staff are closely connected with leading universities and research institutes in Europe, America, and Asia, and several exchange programs are in place for students and professors.
According to her, several Georgian and English-language educational programs of the university, including in civil engineering, are preparing to receive international ABET accreditation in close cooperation with American and European colleagues. The English-language educational program of biomedical engineering has already obtained the mentioned international accreditation and successfully trains Georgian and international students.
According to the Vice-Rector, of Georgian Technical University, where up to 23,000 students with active status acquire engineering-technological and humanitarian specialties annually, the main challenge is to train competitive and highly professional young specialists and researchers who will be able to use the knowledge gained at the university according to the labor market requirements.
As Tamar Tsereteli states, the university considers the Spanish company a partner in training young specialists and plans to deepen relations with them.
At the meeting, it was noted that representatives of the Spanish company will conduct three-day master classes for students, young researchers, and professors of the GTU Faculty of Construction on important issues of software support in the construction sector and will share their experience in this direction with Georgian colleagues and future specialists.
After the master classes, the CYPE program will be introduced at the Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University as an update and will be used in the educational process and design work.
The University Chancellor thanked the well-known Spanish company for its cooperation. As Professor Carlo Kopaliani noted, the University considers it important to see the educational process from the perspective of the future, as well as to analyze the development of science, technology, and innovation in a practical context and equip the educational process with new theoretical knowledge and practical opportunities.
According to the Chancellor, the master classes of CYPE representatives, which provide for the sharing of software experience and the latest information in the construction sector, will in many ways benefit the professional development of students of the faculties of construction, as well as architecture, urban planning and design, and on the other hand, will deepen relations between Georgian and Spanish colleagues.
CYPE Technical Director Carlos Fernandez, on behalf of the company, thanked the Georgian Technical University for the best practices in cooperation.
According to him, the company, founded in Spain in the early 80s of the 20th century is already widely known in Europe and Latin America. In addition, it is developing contacts in Asia and Africa.
As Carlos Fernandez noted, CYPE offers software solutions for managing architecture, construction, mechanics, plumbing, and energy projects, and the company has also developed a BIM platform used by engineers worldwide.
According to the Technical Director of CYPE, during the master classes, interested students of the Georgian Technical University will have the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with various software programs and receive consultations on their practical use based on modern requirements and needs.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of the Spanish company CYPE presented the Georgian Technical University with 200 licenses of software intended for the construction sector for educational and practical purposes.
