The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, congratulates the Georgian scientist and geologist, Doctor of Geology and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Emeritus of the Georgian Technical University, Chief Scientific Advisor of the Irakli Zhordania Center for the Study of Industrial Forces and Natural Resources of Georgia, Full Member of the Georgian Engineering Academy, the European and Russian Academies of Natural Sciences, Honored Geologist of Georgia, recipient of the Order of Honor and the GTU Gold Medal, laureate of the Kalistrate Gabunia Prize, the first discoverer of four mineral deposits, Professor Giorgi Maghalashvili.
“We congratulate our esteemed scientist, famous geologist, Mr. Giorgi Maghalashvili - the author of more than 200 scientific papers, 7 auxiliary textbooks, 2 monographs, 4 new scientific innovations, 4 inventions, about twenty geological maps for various purposes, 3 geological and geophysical methods, and a participant in more than 40 scientific forums on his 94th birthday.”
Professor Giorgi Maghalashvili is a prominent representative of the generation of Georgian thinkers who are dedicated to the development of science and have been working for many decades on such important scientific topics as: Caucasian porcelain stones, the causes of natural coal “impoverishment”, the production of artificial diamonds using Algeti and other deposits, the so-called “Solengofen” type lithographic stone, the use of some components of industrially important deposits in agriculture as non-traditional fertilizers and ameliorants, etc.
His way of life, international authority, and universal recognition confirm his great contribution to the country and his native university. Giorgi Maghalashvili’s contribution to the education of young specialists, scientific and pedagogical staff, and the development of Georgian geology is immeasurable.
“Mr. Giorgi, I sincerely congratulate you on your 94th birthday! I wish you good health, longevity, and strength.
