“Sales Lab” to Be Launched Within the Framework of the EU Grant Project
The so-called Sales Lab will be launched at the Georgian Technical University within the framework of the Erasmus+ “LISS24 grant project –- Learn - Improve - Sell – Succeed”.

Before the laboratory opening, during the preparatory period, a delegation from the Georgian Technical University participated in a study tour to the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences (Austria) to familiarize themselves with the best European practices and principles of the “Sales Laboratory”. According to Professor Boris Githolendia, Dean of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering at the GTU, the purpose of the study visit was to familiarize themselves with the work, principles of the “Sales Laboratory” envisaged in the project action plan, and its use in the educational process.

“It is noteworthy that with the budget allocated to the project, special laboratory equipment of modern technologies has already been purchased at the Georgian Technical University. Currently, with the support of the administration, renovation works are underway on the laboratory workspace in the first academic building, at the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering. The laboratory will contribute to introducing a culture of teaching products, the so-called “sales”, for engineering and other program students, by strengthening B2B sales competence. Within the framework of the LISS24 project, it is planned to retrain relevant academic personnel using training and other teaching methods, develop services and processes, introduce training courses, and include the education-oriented “Sales Laboratory” - Sales Lab in real teaching. In particular, it is planned to include real sales experience based on digital technologies in the training, both face-to-face and through online sales. In addition, within the framework of the same project, the so-called “Student Sales Competition” will be held for the first time in Georgia, hosted by the Georgian Technical University. Ultimately, the project envisages the introduction of best European practices and the creation of appropriate infrastructure for the development of entrepreneurial and innovative competencies in beneficiary educational institutions, including the Georgian Technical University,” says Boris Gitolendia.

This is the first such laboratory in Georgia and with the involvement of students, it will contribute to strengthening the cooperation of the business sector and other stakeholders with the Georgian Technical University, as one of the leading educational institutions. The laboratory provides an opportunity to offer business sector research to stimulate their sales capabilities and increase their competitiveness.

For your information, “LISS24 - Learn - Improve - Sell - Succeed” is funded within the framework of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program KA102 activity and aims to enhance innovative competencies in engineering education.

The institutional coordination of the project at the Georgian Technical University is carried out by the GTU Technology Transfer and Grant Projects Office. The initial piloting of the project results and the main events planned under the auspices of the project are carried out at the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, which provides additional opportunities for professional growth for students and professors.

The project will be completed in 2026. The project coordinator is the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland). The project consortium members are universities and governmental and non-governmental organizations from Finland, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Armenia, and Georgia. It is worth noting that the national coordinator of the project in Georgia is the Georgian Technical University, and the partner is the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.
