Georgian Technical University Held a Charity Event in the Tserovani IDP Settlement
“Our families will never forget this grace. Sometimes they help us, but no one from the educational space shows empathy. You are the first and thank you for the gift, kindness, and love.” This is how Nino Kakhurashvili, an IDP from Akhalgori, who lives in the Tserovani settlement, thanked the representatives of the Georgian Technical University for their charity.

With the initiative and support of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, in the direction of social responsibility, within the framework of the Christmas-New Year events cycle, the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Professor Taliko Zhvania, Deputy Deans, Professors Lili Petriashvili, Nona Otkhozoria and students of the same faculty Tamar Kozashvili and Roma Kasaburi, as well as the Head of the GTU Women’s Association, Professor Nazi Kutsiava, donated first aid, personal hygiene items and products to two large families in the Tserovani IDP settlement.

As Nazi Kutsiava, head of the GTU Women’s Association, noted, with the support of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, with the Women’s Association, is holding charity events as part of the Christmas and New Year events.

“In December-January, as part of the pre-New Year and Christmas events, representatives of the Georgian Technical University held a charity event in Gori and Tbilisi, in particular, in the Gori Elderly Home “Your Warm Hearth”, in Tbilisi, in the boarding house “Imedi” and the “Gabriel Beri Home for the Elderly and Disabled”. We handed over to the beneficiaries the necessary first aid and personal hygiene items, as well as food. In the days before Christmas, we arrived in Tserovani, where we brought gifts to the large families of socially vulnerable people, Tsezar and Avtandil Zhamureli. The “Women’s Association” and faculties of the Georgian Technical University, to implement the Rector’s initiative, will continue the cycle of charity events,” - stated Nazi Kutsiava.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems of the Georgian Technical University of Technology, teachers and students are involved in the cycle of charity events.

“Within the framework of the next charity event, we decided to help two large families in the Tserovani settlement. The Zhamureli brothers have 10 minors growing up in their families. They have been living in Akhalgori since 2008. Of the 5 children of Avtandil Zhamureli and Nino Kakhurashvili, the eldest is 16 years old, the youngest, twins - three, while the eldest child of the family of Tsezar and Gvantsa Kaparashvili is 14 years old, and the youngest is 5 years old. I want to thank the rector, each colleague, student, and the Women’s Association for the joy reflected in the eyes of these children. Without them, we would not have been able to carry out the cycle of charity actions,” said Taliko Zhvania.

Georgian Technical University regularly cares for vulnerable groups in our society, such as beneficiaries of nursing homes and socially vulnerable families.
