The Georgian Technical University is the coordinator of the project “Fostering innovation culture for a new generation of GEorgian AI research community” (FORGE-AI), funded by the European Commission's largest research and innovation program “Horizon Europe”.

The Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University is actively involved in the “Horizon Europe” grant project FORGE-AI implementation.

According to Professor Vakhtang Kvaratskhelia, Director of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics at GTU, the three-year FORGE-AI project, with a total budget exceeding 2 million euros, involves 13 partner universities from Germany, France, and Armenia, along with the Georgian Technical University, other Georgian universities, state organizations and startups.

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University congratulates the scientists and researchers of the consortium of Georgian and foreign universities created within the framework of FORGE-AI on another success.

According to Academician David Gurgenidze, another “Horizon Europe” grant project is also being implemented under the leadership of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University - the Georgian Artificial Intelligence Networking and Twinning Initiative - GAIN.

“I congratulate the group of scientists, the union of Georgian and foreign universities on another success. The project “Fostering Innovation Culture for a new generation of Georgian AI research community” aims to significantly improve the innovation potential of the Georgian research and innovation (R&I) system and provide sustainable conditions for the career growth and scientific advancement of young researchers in artificial intelligence. This is an opportunity to strengthen the innovative capabilities of leading young researchers and research managers in artificial intelligence, as well as to introduce and demonstrate the added value of inter-sectoral mobility and knowledge transfer. The Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics is 76 years old, one of the successful institutes with an infrastructure that meets European standards and where work highly qualified scientists. The most gratifying thing is that next to the accomplished scientists stands a new generation, and they have all the conditions to engage in international projects and research on behalf of our country, the Georgian Technical University, and the Institute of Computational Mathematics. I wish the university and its scientists success,” says David Gurgenidze.

The implementation of the project “FORGE-AI - FosteRing innovation culture for a new generation of GEorgian AI research community”, will begin in 2025, most likely in the spring, after completing the mandatory procedures.
