Within the Framework of the ReINNOVA Final Conference at GTU, a “Thinking Lab” Was Established
A final conference was held at Georgian Technical University in collaboration with Keele University (Great Britain) within the framework of the project “Research and Innovation Support Program to Stimulate and Improve Collaboration with Industrial Businesses in Engineering Education - ReINNOVA”. 

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector of Georgian Technical University. As Professor Tamar Tsereteli noted, ReINNOVA is a project funded through a grant application. It is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, the Georgia Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF), and the World Bank. The project partner is Keele University.

According to the Vice-Rector, the project goals are to strengthen the ties between the Georgian Technical University and entrepreneurial business industries, ensure the participation of employers in education, and promote the training of competitive, qualified personnel in the labor market by improving the results of students’ learning practices.

“This is a significant project, which was submitted under the authorship and direct leadership of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, and which won the grant competition announced by the World Bank, Georgia I2Q Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project (CIF) in 2023. The project envisages piloting ReINNOVA in 6 educational programs of the Faculties of Transportation Systems and Mechanical Engineering and Construction and strengthening the training module of industrial practice. I congratulate the young people involved in the project on another victory and wish the conference participants success,” the Vice-Rector noted in her speech.

The conference participants were welcomed by the Director of Entrepreneurship of the project partner organization - Keele University Business School. Professor Colin Rigby introduced the conference participants to the future sustainable development plan prepared under the auspices of the project and spoke about the importance of the project and Keele University’s experience in managing similar projects.

According to Professor Rigby, the main essence of the project is to test British practice at the Georgian Technical University, which, using an innovative platform, will stimulate the practice of cooperation with business, as well as contribute to the institutionalization of this methodology to achieve sustainable goals. According to him, in the future, in partnership with the Georgian Technical University, active cooperation in the educational and research directions is planned.

At the conference opening ceremony, the project team members presented a report presentation and introduced to the public the project results and the web platform created under the auspices of the project.

As part of the ReINNOVA project summary conference, a “Thinking Lab” was established. Professor Colin Rigby, Director of Entrepreneurship at Keele University Business School, and Emma Bonfilio, Specialist in Partnership Development with Digital and Creative Industries at Keele University, attended the conference opening ceremony.
