The Georgian Technical University, according to one of the leading international companies in the field of ratings and research, is ranked first among Georgian universities in the teaching category in the 2025 World University Rankings (THE - World University Rankings 2025).
Georgian Technical University participated in the interdisciplinary research ranking, which was proposed for the first time this year by the Times Higher Education world ranking system. It is noteworthy that GTU also took first place in the interdisciplinary research ranking, both in Georgia and in the
601+ category worldwide.
According to the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, the sharp promotion in one of the world’s leading rating systems is another significant success of the Georgian Technical University in the international educational and scientific space, which is the result of the daily efforts of the university community and students and their commitment to a common goal.
“We congratulate the students, professors, and employees of the Georgian Technical University on this significant success, which motivates us not only to further improve the ranking, but also to rapidly develop our university.
One of the first and most important categories of Times Higher Education is “Teaching”. This category assesses the quality of teaching, the reputation of the learning environment, the ratio of students and academic staff about learning processes and programs, and the potential for educating doctoral students and researchers.
This category also assesses the extent to which the university meets the requirements of providing the next generation of researchers with advanced infrastructure. The first place among Georgian universities in the “Teaching” category is undoubtedly a great success.
In addition, it should be noted that this year, for the first time, the Times Higher Education international ranking system introduced the interdisciplinary research ranking, in which two Georgian universities participated. We believe that getting into the 601+ category among world universities in interdisciplinary research and taking first place among Georgian universities is a great achievement for the Georgian Technical University.
We believe that the path taken by the university, which includes the internationalization of teaching and research, providing the best education for young people, increasing employment and career development opportunities, is our driving force towards progress and greater success,” notes David Gurgenidze.
