For information, for Georgia, joining the European Energy Union implies taking a legal obligation and legislative harmonization.
In particular, Georgia should reflect in its local legislation the directives and regulations applicable to the European Union in the field of energy, which are given in Annex XXV of the Association Agreement.
In December 2019, the Parliament of Georgia approved the law “On encouraging the production and use of energy from renewable sources”, which fully corresponds to the European Union Directive on renewable energy. The Government of Georgia ensures the training of qualified and certified installers of renewable energy technologies.
To implement the program in Georgia, inter-agency cooperation and coordination were necessary, and on December 11, 2020, the memorandum of the corporation was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the “Georgian Energy Development Fund”, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia and the “National Center for the Development of the Quality of Education”.
The work on training/retraining programs for renewable energy technologies installers was carried out within the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) program “Development of the private sector and professional education in the South Caucasus”.
