The research projects of the doctoral students of the Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University won the 2024 Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia competition for the financing of doctoral educational programs.

The authors of the three winning projects in the competition are Ketevan Tsikarishvili, a PhD student in construction, and Mariam Kavrelishvili and Lasha Kavelashvili, PhD students in Water Resources Engineering.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Construction, Professor Zurab Gvishiani, the victory won by the doctoral students of the Georgian Technical University in this year’s competition for financing doctoral educational programs of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation increases the interest of the university’s young scientists to actively participate in various competitions, as well as the possibilities of their integration into international research projects.

“It is good that three doctoral students of the Faculty of Construction presented three scientific projects that were performed at a high level in the competition announced by the Rustaveli Foundation and won. This is a great success for our talented young people and, together with them, the professors and teachers of the Georgian Technical University and the Faculty of Construction.

We congratulate the young people and believe that they will achieve many important results in the future scientific field.

Under the guidance of Professor Marina Javakhishvili, a student of the PhD program in Construction, Ketevan Tsikarishvili, presented a well-argued competition project – “Study of feasibility and efficiency of reconstruction of buildings”.

As for Lasha Kavelashvili, a doctoral student in Water Resources Engineering under the mentorship of associate professor Zaal Tsinadze, he implemented the project – “Development of a methodology for the operation of continuous water supply in the regions of Georgia”, and the competition project of Mariam Kavrelishvili, a doctoral student of the same program – “Research on the modern pharmaceutical contamination of drinking and agricultural water through the software”, was developed under my guidance.

The university, under the guidance of the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, supports young people interested in science in many ways, to effectively participate in both local and international research competitions. We think this is one of the best ways to increase the quality of higher education and science and to identify a young, talented generation of researchers. In the end, this process ensures the full integration of young scientists in the international space,” noted Zurab Gvishian.

For your information, the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia has identified 39 winning projects in the “2024 PhD Educational Programs Funding Competition”.
