Within the framework of the weeks of cultural protection and technological development of the Georgian state languages, an event dedicated to Abkhaz Language Day was held at the Georgian Technical University.
The vice-rector of the Georgian Technical University opened the event.
Professor Tamar Tsereteli congratulated the audience on the Abkhazian language day and noted that the Abkhazian language is in danger of disappearing, therefore research and scientific study of the language to protect the Abkhazian language is one of the priorities for university scientists.
“The temporarily occupied Abkhazia is the pain of Georgia, and the Abkhazian language, which is the state language on the territory of Abkhazia together with Georgian, is a constituent part of the history and culture of Georgia. It is difficult to talk about Abkhazia without emotions. We believe that with the wise and peaceful steps of our government, Abkhazia will return to the bosom of the motherland.
On the Day of the Abkhazian Language, I especially congratulate our sisters and brothers, for whom the Abkhazian language is their native language, and the Abkhazian language and culture preservation are important values. It is a pity that the Abkhazian language is among the world’s languages that are in danger of disappearing.
The Center for Cultural Protection and Technological Development of the State Languages of Georgia is successfully operating at the Georgian Technical University. Our university academic and scientific circles are involved in the protecting and preserving process of the Abkhazian language. What the state does to protect the Abkhazian ethnicity, language, and culture is important. This is a clear step to more actively implement the peace policy,” announced Tamar Tsereteli.
At the meeting, which was held with the call “Georgia peacefully united with Georgian and Abkhazian languages, cultures and traditions towards Europe”, with a report in front of the audience, “Necessities of developing technological alphabets of Georgian and Abkhazian languages and the three-level (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral) the goals of establishing the training program” was presented by Konstantine Pkhakadze, Director of the Center for Cultural Protection and Technological Development of State Languages of Georgia, Professor of the Department of Artificial Intelligence.
