Academician David Gurgenidze, rector of the Georgian Technical University, awarded the title of honorary doctorate of the Georgian Technical University to Professor Vladimir Stoupel within the framework of the 35th Hegel International Jubilee Congress, based on the decision of the Academic Council.

According to the decision of Academician David Gurgenidze and the Academic Council, Vladimir Stoupel, an honorary member of the International Hegel Society, a professor at the Faculty of Chamber Music at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a visiting professor at the Icelandic Academy of Arts (Reykjavik, Iceland), was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Georgian Technical University under the auspices of the International Hegel Society, for collaboration and his distinguished contribution to the field of musical art and philosophy, for his generous cooperation and support of Georgian students and pianists, for sharing his diverse musical experiences and invaluable guidance.

According to the rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Vladimir Stoupel is a musician with a vibrant range of sound and emotion.

“I congratulate Mr. Vladimir on being awarded the title of honorary doctor of the Georgian Technical University. He has made a great contribution to the education of future generations. Another ambassador, a world-famous pianist and teacher, has joined our university today. It is a great honor for both the Georgian Technical University and Vladimir Stoupel. I wish him success”, announced the rector.

Professor Vladimir Stoupel thanked the Rector and the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University. 

“The main goal of our life is the students with whom we share knowledge, love, and emotions. I am happy with the relations between me and the scientists and students of the Georgian Technical University.

I am happy to participate in the 35th Hegel International Jubilee Congress. I am especially pleased with the attitude of the students of the Georgian Technical University towards art and music. I want to thank the Georgian Technical University, the Academic Council, and the Rector for their support and appreciation”, Vladimir Stoupel said in his speech. 

At the Georgian Technical University, within the framework of the 35th Hegel International Jubilee Congress, the famous French pianist, and honorary member of the International Hegel Society, Professor Vladimir Stoupel presented a musical performance – “On Morality in Music”. Stoupel presented a Franco-German program and performed works by Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, and Paul Dukas. He also spoke about the relationship between music and philosophy.

For information, the 35th Hegel International Jubilee Congress, with the theme – “The Idea of Goodness and Morality in Hegel’s Philosophy”, which is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of this prestigious scientific forum, is being held in Georgia for the first time in the post-Soviet space and is being hosted by the Georgian Technical University from September 30th to October 4th.

The financial supporters of the high-ranking scientific event are the International Hegel Society, various European and American scientific foundations, and the Government of Georgia.

Due to the importance of Hegel’s philosophy and the history of its reception, under the auspices of the International Hegel Society, the congress is held every two years, and in it, world-renowned scientists and researchers participate.
