“It has been 32 years since the last September of Jiuli Shartava. “I am in favor of such an independent Georgia where there will exist a high political culture, true tolerance, and true democracy”, - the author of these words, whose career started in the Communist Union, lived in independent Georgia for only a few years.
It is hard to talk without emotions about the person who passed an important stage of his life within the walls of the Georgian Technical University.
Fortunately, we, his colleagues and friends, have the opportunity to tell the future generations about a man who courageously sacrificed his life on the altar of his motherland”, said the President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Zurab Gudavadze, at the unveiling of the national hero’s, Jiuli Shartava monument, in Zugdidi.
Today, in Zugdidi, the President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University attended the opening ceremony of Jiuli Shartava’s monument. According to Professor Zurab Gudavadze, at the GTU, where Jiuli Shartava studied and worked, the name of the national hero is forever immortalized among students and teachers.
