On September 27th, our country hosts World Tourism Day, and the Georgian Technical University responds to this event with an
international student conference.
It should be noted that the conference co-organizer is the Georgian National University - SEU.
“Peace and Tourism” is the main theme of World Tourism Day 2024. Our conference also responds to this topic: “Peace and Sustainable Mountain Tourism - Challenges and Opportunities”.
The main partners of the conference are the United Nations Tourism Organization and the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
Also, the conference is held under the auspices of the Mountain Partnership, of which since March 12, 2024, the Georgian Technical University and the
Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development officially became a member.

website.
Thus, the young faculty of the Mountain Sustainable Development, the initiator of the conference, is supported by the faculty of Business Technologies.
Students’ reports of the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development will be abundantly presented at the conference. The conference is supported by various governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Supporters of the conference are organizations from Canada, Italy, and Japan, which connect their mission with educational activities. The support of representatives of the state agencies of the Republic of Georgia, private businesses, and the non-governmental sector in close collaboration with tourism is welcome:
- Resorts Development Agency;
- National Environment Agency;
- Hotel Pullman Tbilisi Axis Towers;
- Ecocenter for environmental protection (UN ECOSOC consultative status organization);
- Magic Roads Tourist Company;
- International Association of Mountainous Regions of the Caucasus;
- Regional center of consulting and new professions.
At the conference, young people will discuss and share ideas and plans for a more accessible and harmonious future of tourism, which will help to strengthen peace in our country and worldwide.
The conference aims to establish friendship between countries and many students (including doctoral) and professors from foreign countries participate in the conference; More than 60 participants registered for the conference, and the best ones were selected.
It is worth noting the support and involvement of the director of the UN World Tourism Organization, Beka Jakeli, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and the head of the National Tourism Administration, Maya Omiadze, as a result of which the conference is considered as a parallel event marking the World Tourism Day.
Cordula Vollmuter, Regional Director of the UN World Tourism Organization for Europe, will attend the conference.
The conference is hybrid - it will open on September 26th at the Georgian Technical University, and then it will continue and close in one of the high mountain areas of Georgia - the protected area of Tana; On September 27th, the participants are to go on an ecotourist hike in the protected area of Tana, during which the area will be cleaned.
The event will be led by the Protected Areas Agency. On September 28th, along with the conference, the participants’ section will work at the Solo Grand Boshuri Hotel.
Here, the work of the conference will be summarized, participants will be given the certificates, the best reports will be identified, and the authors will be awarded special gifts from the Georgian Technical University, the Resorts Development Agency, and the Georgian Tourism Association.
