Academician David Gurgenidze, the rector of the Georgian Technical University, congratulates the freshmen enrolled as a result of the Unified National Exams on the start of a new, cognitive and responsible stage of life, and the university community on receiving a new stream of students and wishes them successful implementation of their goals. The Georgian Technical University disseminates information about this.
According to GTU, in his letter, the rector focuses on the main values and goals of student and university life in general, as well as the guaranteed opportunities that will allow young people to acquire knowledge corresponding to international standards, as well as practical skills necessary for a professional, and will open new perspectives.
“Dear young people, on behalf of the society of the Georgian Technical University, we have the honor on St. Mary’s day heartily congratulate you on the start of a new life stage full of knowledge, courage, and adventure, at the same time, the beginning of a responsible stage that will combine your student years and university life.
Together with you, we congratulate all the entrants on this important event, who decently coped with difficult challenges, successfully overcame the Unified National Exams, met the expectations of their families, schools, and teachers, and enrolled in the desired university. It is gratifying that among you are many talented and motivated young people of different ethnic-confessional affiliations, and it is doubly pleasant that in the era of accelerated technological progress, most of them choose the Georgian Technical University.
I would especially like to congratulate this remarkable fact to the rectors and professors of accredited higher educational institutions in Georgia, who are waiting for freshmen in their universities.
Being a student is a significantly interesting and important time in the life of any seeker of knowledge, which will outline your future goals, show you new ways, and open up compelling perspectives and new opportunities. And before you start studying at the university of your choice, remember that the best investment in your future is education. We are sure that your choice is well thoughtful. The Georgian Technical University is one of the oldest higher schools in our country, which has started counting down to the new century, where humanities are successfully taught along with engineering and technological fields. This year, we expect the 102nd stream of first-year bachelor, master’s, and doctoral students. This process is equivalent to the “Transfusion of new blood” for the university and is usually full of pleasant excitement. That is why the university community always follows the process and results of the unified national exams with great interest.
On September 16th, you start studying at the Georgian Technical University. It’s the place that has given rise to many successful, important engineering, educational, and scientific history, events and facts for the country during its existence. All of them are related to the main stages of the work of our engineers-technologists, researchers, professors, and graduates, which became the basis for the establishment and development of several sectors and priority directions in Georgia and, accordingly, the development of the Georgian economy. The university is equipped with a unique material and technical base, modern teaching and research laboratories, a highly rated professorship, educational programs corresponding to international standards, diverse exchange programs with European universities, and extensive international educational and scientific collaborations with the leading universities of Europe, America and Asia, the largest scientific centers of the world. Our team is motivated to provide young people with relevant and modern education, together with professors and teachers, to engage in local and international scientific projects and to develop them into competitive specialists and high-ranking researchers. From here, I encourage you, along with your studies, to participate in university sports and creative activities, thereby diversifying the life of young people and becoming the continuation of the rich traditions of the Georgian Technical University. During your student life, you will make many friends, including teachers, who will always support you in following the chosen path. Remember, during your student years and throughout your life, your alma mater will always be by your side and proud of your success.
You are the future of our country. With good studies and hard work, you can use all the opportunities offered by the university to create your worthy future; at the same time, the knowledge, skills, and professionalism acquired at the Georgian Technical University can contribute to the prosperity of the country and glorify the name of Georgia far.
Congratulations once again, young people, our freshmen. We wish you health, success, and achievement of your goals! Knowledge is power - Gaudeamus Igitur!”, - is stated in the address of the rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze.
