The Georgian Technical University hosted the final conference of the project “Advancing Gender Diversity in Engineering - The Women’s Tech Hub”.
The final conference of the project – “Strengthening gender diversity in engineering – Women’s Tech Hub” was attended by the vice-rector of GTU, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, the project team members, trainers-teachers involved in the project, and beneficiaries. The operational team members provided the meeting participants with the information about the activities carried out within the project, successful initiatives, and achieved results.
The vice-rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, spoke about the importance of the project and noted that the “Women’s Tech Hub” was created to strengthen the role of women and ensure the growth of their representation in the fields of engineering and technological entrepreneurship.
“Women’s Tech Hub” has become an excellent opportunity for career development and professional growth of university students and graduates in engineering. The innovative mechanisms implemented within the project (seminars, cooperation with the business sector, etc.) helped us to achieve the goal. A corresponding web platform was also successfully developed, which will offer interesting activities to students and graduates interested in this field in the future. The “Women’s Tech Hub” project, from the day of its creation, provides strong support to students of any level and creates important opportunities for professional growth and career development,” noted the vice-rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli.
According to GTU information, the project – “Advancing Gender Diversity in Engineering - The Women’s Tech Hub” is coordinated by the Office of Technology and Grant Projects of the Georgian Technical University. The project received funding under the 2023 Small Grants Program of the Democracy Commission of the US Embassy in Georgia.
Within the framework of the project, the career platform created by the Georgian Technical University will continue to take care of attracting vacancies from engineering fields, employment of female engineers, and career development in the future. Those wishing to join the project will be offered training modules in the future. In addition, under the auspices of the project, “Competition of innovative ideas”, “Day of GTU Entrepreneurship - for equal Opportunities”, “Success Stories” sessions, and other activities will again be held at the Georgian Technical University.
