Ten students of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering of the Georgian Technical University, after successfully completing the preparatory training course for car dealers, will be employed at the Lion Trans company.

The students participating in the preparatory training course for car dealers were given appropriate certificates. The event, which was held at the Lion Trans electric vehicle training and research laboratory of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, was attended by Vice Rector of the University, Associate Professor Tamar Tsereteli, General Director of Lion Trans Levan Sukhitashvili, Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Boris Gitolandia and the professors.

As the dean of the faculty noted, the intensive training course was launched in May of 2024, and for 2 months, it allowed the interested students of the faculty to acquire the skills, theoretical knowledge, and practical competencies necessary for an important and specific profession in the field of the auto industry.

As Boris Githolendia said, within the framework of the partnership strengthened by the memorandum of cooperation, the Georgian Technical University and the Lion Trans company have jointly developed an intensive training course for the preparation of car dealers for additional training for students.

“The course aimed was to familiarize the interested student with the theoretical essence of the car dealership industry and, based on the real experience of the Lion Trans company, the main principles related to the practical car dealership activity. The training course is innovative and reflects well both the sectoral needs of the dealership business and the possibilities of applying management principles in business practice. In partnership with Lion Trans, we developed the training course based on modern teaching methods and divided it into three theoretical modules: “General vehicle Equipment”; “Service Strategy and Efficiency” and “Car Dealer Practice Module”. After mastering all three modules, the students went through practical training at the Lion Trans headquarters, mastering the auction platform, which is supported by one of the largest American auto auctions - IAA. It should be noted that after the completion of the training course, according to the decision of the management of Lion Trans, ten successful students will continue to work in the company”, said Boris Githolendia.

The vice-rector of the university, on behalf of the Georgian Technical University, thanked the general director of the Lion Trans company and the participants of the training course. As Tamar Tsereteli noted, successful cooperation between the educational institution and the business sector will contribute to the career growth of motivated students and the development of the auto industry, as well as have a positive impact on the country’s economic progress.

“It is important for the university that ten successful certified faculty students of transport systems and mechanical engineering will be employed in a large company operating in the auto industry. According to the decision of the management of Lion Trans, all ten young people will have access to the relevant platforms of the company, where they will freely carry out activities related to car dealership activities and get involved in the real business process. On behalf of the rector, academician Davit Gurgenidze, as well as the administration and faculty of our university, we thank the general director of Lion Trans, Mr. Levan Sukhitashvili, the founders of the company, and all those who participated in the development of the training course for car dealers. We thank the young people who, with their hard work and determination, fulfilled the expectations of the university. We are deeply convinced that the successful cooperation between the university and business will ultimately contribute to the career development of motivated students and the filling of business companies with young professional staff, and it will also have a positive impact on the economic future of the country,” said Tamar Tsereteli.

The car dealer training course, developed in partnership between the Georgian Technical University and the Lion Trans company, was, at the first stage, intended only for students of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering of GTU. Considering the practical results of the training course, in the future, it is planned to expand the course and offer it to interested persons.
