It is one of the oldest scientific and research institutes in our country where highly qualified scientists work. It is gratifying that in the Institute, taking into account the strategic priorities of the country, meritorious scientists and researchers of the new generation are working on such important topics related to the development of integrated management methods of natural disasters - floods, landslides, snow avalanches, and erosive processes in the conditions of climate change and their counter-engineering design of facilities, the safety of water regulations, forecasting and control of natural disasters, forecasting of sea and reservoir problems, as well as reliability of hydro-technical facilities and others.

Over the years, the scientific projects of the institute’s researchers have received several international grant funding, which are implemented in collaboration with European researchers.

Most importantly, the institute, with the Georgian Technical University, is taking strategic steps to integrate into the scientific space of Europe, America, and Asia.
The university administration has begun to equip the water management institute with modern infrastructure and a laboratory complex so that our scientists can work more effectively on important challenges for Georgia.

I want to congratulate the head of the institute, academician Givi Gavardashvili, and all the employees and researchers of the old and new generations on the day of the institute and wish them scientific success for the benefit of the country, the institute, and the university”, said the Rector David Gurgenidze.
