The graduation ceremony of the first batch of graduates was held at the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development of the Georgian Technical University.
The dean, Professor Noe Khozrevanidze, congratulated the students of the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development students on completing their studies.
“The Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development has just been established at the Georgian Technical University, and you are the first stream, and the European standard education received from us should help you to revitalize the mountain.
During the faculty existence, through active and organized work, we achieved about 300 students studying in four bachelor’s programs fully financed by the state.
The fact that our programs are attractive to young people is indicated by the high competition rate in all four programs in the unified national exams.
I am very happy that most bachelor’s graduates plan to take the master’s degree at the Georgian Technical University. I emphasize that sustainable development is considered a new concept of human development. The key to creating a sustainable and peaceful world is learning.
Change towards sustainability depends on a change in thinking. In transdisciplinary research, knowledge from different fields is integrated into a common vision, which allows obtaining a global body of knowledge to respond to new problems. The transdisciplinary approach tries to form and combine different knowledge, which allows for a worldwide and integrated view of reality. Such an approach will better prepare young people for living in the mountains and the reality they will discover, appreciate, and transform in the future.
Therefore, you are the people who should contribute to the development of the mountains of Georgia. It is very important. There will be difficulties, which I am sure you will overcome with a youthful attitude. I congratulate you once again and wish you success”, noted the dean in his speech.
