The GTU lecturer received the award for the most influential article in FIIB Business Review magazine
Nino Adamashvili, a lecturer at the Georgian Technical University and a researcher at the University of Palermo, together with co-authors, received the award for the most influential article of the FIIB Business Review magazine in the paper “Consumers’ Willingness to Pay for Agrofood products transported by electric vehicles in short supply chains”.

The research aims to determine the factors that influence the buyers’ behavior and use the online survey method and the Tobit regression model to analyze the results. The study identified three main factors that determine consumer behavior.

These are consumer attitude towards environmental issues; knowledge and ability to engage in responsible procurement; and positive behavior of friends and relatives (social norms).

As Nino Adamashvili stated, the work studies the willingness of consumers to pay a relatively high price for Agrofood products delivered with maximum compliance with sustainable development norms.

The paper cites an example of Sicilian oranges that are delivered through a short supply chain to local markets and use electric vehicles for transportation, which means that the delivery process minimizes harmful emissions to the environment.

“Any award is gratifying because it means that your paper is the best in that certain category, but to receive the award for the most influential article from an international journal of this level is quite a significant achievement. Like all researchers, firstly, I try to serve society and my university.

To contribute to the development of science, which will again be useful to society and will not remain only on paper in the form of vague theories.

This award means just that! The winning article is the most influential, the most effective, the most useful, and the most needed among the academic papers published this year. Of course, this achievement is not only my merit.

In particular, I would like to single out one of the authors of the article, Antonino Galati, both for his contribution to the research and for developing my knowledge and skills to this level, of course, along with many other professors and colleagues from the Georgian Technical University, as well as the technical and educational institutes of Foggia, Luxembourg, and Turin”, said Nino Adamashvili.

The main recommendation of the authors of the article is to support the choice of farmers to invest in electric machines and for policymakers to develop policies that facilitate this transition process.

The co-authors of the paper – “Consumers’ Willingness to Pay for Agrofood products transported by electric vehicles in short supply chains”, with the lecturer of the Georgian Technical University are Full Professor of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Sciences of the University of Palermo Antonino Galati, Associate Professor Giuseppina Migliore, Full Professor Giorgio Schifano, researcher Giuseppina Rizzo and Professor Alkis Thrassou of the School of Management and Business at the Gnosis Mediterranean Institute at the University of Nicosia.

For information, Nino Adamashvili graduated from the Master’s level of the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems of the Georgian Technical University, and after - the Ph.D. from the University of Foggia (Italy).

Currently, she is a researcher at the University of Palermo in the Italian National Project W.E. B.E.S.T. Within the framework of PRIN, where her scientific supervisor is the local coordinator of the same project and the author of the winning article is Professor Antonino Galatia. Nino Adamashvili gives lectures at the Georgian Technical University.

Periodically she worked as an invited researcher at the universities of Palermo, Foggia, Luxembourg, Alkali, and Turin.

She is the winner of several international projects, a participant in more than 20 international conferences, and a member of the organizing and editorial committee, leader of sessions, and head of student groups participating in international competitions.
