Students visited “Rustavi Azot” within the framework of events dedicated to Chemist’s Day
Students of the faculties of chemical technology and metallurgy, as well as transport systems and mechanical engineering of the Georgian Technical University, within the framework of events dedicated to Chemist’s Day, visited the largest chemical enterprise producing mineral fertilizers and industrial chemicals in the South Caucasus “Rustavi Azot Indorama”.

As part of the Chemist’s Day events, students and professors met the company’s leaders and learned about the important chemical processes taking place in the enterprise.

The executive director of “Indorama Caucasus” - Levan Burdiladze, and the general director of “Rustavi Azot Indorama” - Jay Prakash Jaju congratulated future chemists on their professional day.
Levan Burdiladze talked to the young people about the challenges and new initiatives facing the enterprise, and Jay Prakash Jaju introduced them to the information about the Indorama company.

Associate Professor Liana Targamadze, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy congratulated the managers and specialists of “Rustavis Azot” on their professional day, and on behalf of the Georgian Technical University conveyed the best wishes of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze. She drew attention to the close cooperation between the university and “Rustavi Azot”, which dates back to the 50s of the last Century.

“On behalf of the Georgian Technical University, we congratulate the management team and specialists of “Rustavis Azot” - one of the largest enterprises in our country, where more than 2,000 people are employed, on the Chemist’s Professional Day, and we would like to convey the warm congratulations and best wishes of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze. Most employees of “Rustavi Azot” are our university graduates, and we wish them success! Today, the Georgian Technical University is even more interested in expanding and deepening cooperation with “Rustavi Azot”. We are sure that this is also a priority for the enterprise.

In addition to chemical technology, all faculties and educational programs of the engineering-technical and technological direction operate at the Georgian Technical University. We believe their joint development will bring positive results for the university and its students, as well as for “Rustavi Azot” and overall - for our country. We have a great desire to activate student internship programs and launch innovative research projects with the involvement of our students, researchers, and enterprise specialists. It will contribute to the formation of a new generation of professionals. Who will move from the university to production and in the future will make a solid contribution to the field development”, said Liana Targamadze.

After the meeting, the students got acquainted with the important chemical processes taking place in „Rustavi Azot“ and received comprehensive information about them both from the heads of the enterprise and specialists, as well as from professors and teachers of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy of the University.

In various workshops, students observed the processes of ammonia synthesis, ammonia water, sodium cyanide, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, as well as the production of mineral fertilizers, that are carried out in the enterprise using new technologies. In addition, the young people visited the exhibition hall, got acquainted with the history of „Rustavi Azot“ and received answers from the enterprise specialists to their questions.
