At the Faculty of Energy of the Georgian Technical University, the training process of the first stream of the project – “Learn and Get Employed”, on the professional course of the electrician program has started.

The project “Learn and Get Employed” is financed by the Tbilisi City Hall. Its purpose is to teach the trainees in the field of electricity, the national and international legislation, to give special knowledge to assess the dangers and risks related to the safety and health of the employee and other persons in the workplace.

According to Professor Lena Shatakishvili, Dean of the Energy Faculty of GTU, the “Learn and Get Employed” program includes the following directions: fire safety, compliance with health and labor safety norms and rules; organization of work; Installation of grounding on distribution equipment and overhead power lines; street lighting network services; Works with megaohms; works related to climbing on scaffolding, scaffolding structures and equipment; power supply and electrical networks; use of diagnostic and installation tools; Reading electrical and technical drawings; drawing up principle drawings; selection of necessary materials; According to the electrical and technical drawings, lighting and lighting devices (meter, distribution shield, electronic machine, switch, rosette, distribution box, lighting devices, circuit protection elements, and reverse switches), lighting and lighting network armature installation and circuit assembly and circuit load calculation.

“When teaching the program, the format of theoretical and practical teaching is used, with the development of practical skills, by attending the place. I’d like to emphasize that the program attracted much interest, and more than 60 applications were received. To the extent that the program is financed by Tbilisi City Hall, registration in Tbilisi was one of the necessary conditions to be included. Applicants passed the interview stage. There are 25 students in the group. The teaching process will last for three months. After completing the course, the trainees will be employed in any state or private company, such as construction and repair companies, sector-oriented organizations, industrial facilities, individual constructions, and municipal systems services, whose activities will be related to the installation of internal electrical wiring networks of buildings” – said Lena Shatakishvili.

For information, the Tbilisi City Hall program “Learn and Get Employed” was launched in 2018. The program aims to train and employ job-seeking citizens through short-term professional courses.
