Vision of Georgian Technical University:
- The concept of a Georgian and Western university serves as the foundation for GTU's vision. It is based on the principles of autonomy, academic freedom, unity of learning, teaching, and research, equality and transparency, and internationalisation of the teaching and research process. These principles will allow for equal participation in global scientific achievements as well as the passive sharing of international experience;
- For GTU to maintain its distinct position in the present university space, which is built on a hybrid model of modern technology and human values;
- Establishment of an intellectual foundation for the country's sustainable economic development;
- Establishment of the new organisational units for the execution of high-quality research and teaching, which will help to build institutional networks between higher education institutions on a regional and international scale. The doctorate and master’s phases' interfaculty university structures (graduate schools and colleges) serve as the new organisational units. Highly ranked groups of researchers - "Excellent Cluster" and knowledge transfer facilitating structures that offer identification of new research subjects, systematic advancement, and strengthening;
- Modernization and strengthening of traditional organisational units (faculty, field departments, various types of educational and research institutes, etc.) are necessary because these structures carry out the demand for field and thematic development that is required for the University of Applied Sciences to function properly. At the same time, conventional structures should work as closely as possible with new structures, as this is necessary for the complexity and dynamism of scientific advancement. Thus, many levels and varieties of matrix organisation are important components of the modern university;
- Development of interdisciplinary learning and research, which aids in the discovery and development of new areas of knowledge.
Thus, it is necessary to maintain the sustainability and mutual coordination of old and new academic structures.
Values:
- The autonomy of the university is based on the unity of professors and students of the higher education institution and includes independence from external factors as well as internal autonomy;
- GTU is free of the influence of social, political, and religious groups and organisations, yet it is accepting of them. Each member of this group conducts academic and scientific activity freely and without limitations;
- Academic freedom is a concept that considers the various sorts of freedom and the accompanying set of duties that are specified for higher education institutions, their teachers, administration, and students, with the primary emphasis on the freedom of research, teaching, and learning. It is important to adhere to the values of academic freedom, professional ethics, and collegiality when expanding the boundaries of knowledge in the priority scientific fields;
- The unity of learning, teaching, and research is an essential component of GTU as a free academic space, which means that in the process of learning and teaching, we constantly take into consideration the latest research results, which will make learning deeper and more diverse, as well as adding a larger public load to scientific-research achievements, promote the effective use of scientific research. Simultaneously, the student should actively participate in analysing the research processes;
- GTU is a place where society learns to cope with the uncertain and unpredictable situations that modern life provides as difficulties in the "post-modern" era;
- The idea of equality indicates that all GTU members are treated equally in terms of GTU management and educational-research process organisation. Discrimination of any type is not permitted. This notion is primarily achieved by GTU members, who participate equally in the development of representative bodies for the management of the university and faculties.
The full disclosure of all university operations, including financial operations, is required by the transparency principle. GTU has public accountability for its work.
