The purpose of the Bachelor's degree programme in metallurgy is to provide students with knowledge in metallurgy: ferrous metals, alloys, namely: cast iron, steels (ordinary carbonaceous, high-quality, alloyed, stainless and other types of special steels), ferroalloys-ferromanganese, ferrosilicon, ferrochrome - ferrovanadium; non-ferrous metals and materials, in particular: heavy, light, noble, rare metals and their alloys in metallurgy; secondary metals in metallurgy - processing and disposal of scrap and industrial waste; calculation and design of thermal characteristics and design of metallurgical furnaces.

The aim of the programme is to provide graduates with accurate, fundamental theories and principles of natural sciences, food sciences, extensive knowledge of technology, skills and professional competencies relevant to the modern requirements of the labour market, which will be oriented on practical activities and continuation of studies at the next levels of higher education.

To teach students:

Scientific foundations of the processes of the food industry, the range of products, the concept of food safety and quality, the changes taking place during the processing of raw materials, the peculiarities of technological operations, the issues of labour protection and safety provided for by environmental and food legislation, toxic compounds and metabolism in the surrounding environment and food, safe working conditions.

Help in developing the ability to characterise food components using physicochemical analytical methods; assess the impact of economic factors; analyse innovations in food science and technology; and develop and implement food technology projects.

To teach students the fundamentals of materials engineering technology, the structure of bio-nano ceramic and polymer composite materials, physical-mechanical properties and chemical composition, the relationship between structure and characteristics, the secure control of technological processes of production and the use of technical and technological tools in compliance with environmental protection demands, and the approach of product quality expertise and expertise in conducting skills;

To teach the qualities of the most common and novel composite materials utilised in technology, as well as their applications, equipment principles, and technological modes of operation.
