On November 3-5, a new cycle of internal university seminars was held at the Georgian Technical University, organized by the International Accreditation Center. The seminar on the topic - “ABET Accreditation Standards and Challenges” was led by the Head of the International Accreditation Center, Professor Irine Gotsiridze.
The goal of the seminars was to inform the academic staff of the Georgian Technical University about the concept of international ABET accreditation, the accreditation process, standards, and admission procedures.
The participants discussed in detail topics such as:
ABET standards and their acceptance procedures;
Specifics of accreditation of engineering programs;
Structure and stages of preparation of the ABET Self-Study Report;
Mechanisms for assessing student learning outcomes in accordance with ABET criteria;
Effectiveness of assessing program learning outcomes using rubrics;
Organization and submission of documentation to the ABET assessment team;
Preparation for the ABET assessment visit and other relevant issues.
The annual seminar cycle promotes the involvement of the university’s academic community in international accreditation processes and the implementation of innovative visions aimed at improving quality.
