The boys’ team of the Faculty of Mining and Geology of the Georgian Technical University won the university futsal (indoor football) tournament. In the final match, They defeated the team of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering by 2:1 and won the tournament cup.
The two-month-old futsal tournament has ended successfully. Student teams from all faculties participated.
The winning team was awarded the university tournament cup, medals, and diplomas by the President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Zurab Gudavadze, and Vice-Rector Tamar Tsereteli.
For information, the futsal team of the Georgian Technical University has been participating in various tournaments since 2004 and has won numerous victories over the past 20 years.
With the support of the GTU administration, university tournaments are held in various sports.
At this stage, tournaments have been completed in billiards (pool), bowling, basketball, and futsal. Shortly, tournaments will be completed in table tennis, volleyball, and several other sports.
The university tournaments are organized by the GTU Department of Student Services, Culture and Sports. As noted in the department, the winning students and teams in university tournaments will compete in various external tournaments on behalf of the Georgian Technical University in the future, including the Universiade and the Youth Festival.
The goal of holding university sports events is to promote a healthy lifestyle among students, as well as to deepen the friendships among young people, develop team skills, and reveal the best personal qualities.
