Department of Climatology and Agrometeorology:

  • Head of the Department - 1.0 (staff unit)

Department of Water Resources and Hydrological Forecasts:

  • Chief Scientific Officer - 1.0 (0.5 staff unit)
  • Scientific Officer - 2.0 (0.5 staff unit)
Applications are accepted from January 27th - January 29th, 2025 inclusive, from 10:00 to 17:00 hours, at the address: Tbilisi, Davit Agmashenebeli Avenue 150g, Institute of Hydrometeorology, responsible person Naili Kapanadze, Tel: 555 48 84 09, 032 295 10 47, 032 265 03 22.

The interview and voting of the candidate(s) selected by the Scientific Council of the Institute for the vacant position of Head of the Department will be held on January 31st, 2025. The results of the voting will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the voting on January 31st, 2025, will be posted in a visible place at the Institute and published on the Institute’s website.

The competition for the vacant position of Chief Scientist and Scientific Employee will be held by the Competition Commission on February 3rd, 2025. The initial results of the competition will be published no later than February 3rd, 2025, by the Competition Commission in a visible place and on the Institute's website.

Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted to the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until February 6th, 2025.
Additional information to participate in the competition (contestant’s questionnaire, application, time and place of the interview) will be published on the institute’s website.

II. Competition conditions

Main conditions of the competition:

a) A person who meets the requirements established for the chief scientific employee or senior scientific employee of the institute may be elected as the head of a scientific structural unit of the institute. If a person does not hold the position of chief scientific employee or senior scientific employee of the institute, in case of election to the position of head of a scientific structural unit of the institute, he/she is also considered to be elected to the appropriate scientific position.

b) A person who has a doctorate or an equivalent academic degree and at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities may hold the position of chief scientific employee.

c) A person who has a master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree may hold the position of scientific employee. A person shall be elected to the position of scientific employee (chief scientific employee, scientific employee, head of department) for a term of 5 years.

The person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (the forms will be published on the University’s website, as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, deed, reference, etc. (original and copy);

b) Document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) Document(s) confirming scientific-research experience (experience) certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;

d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit (if any);

e) CV - autobiography;

f) List of scientific papers published in the last 5 years (only for the candidate(s) participating for the position of Head of Department);

g) List of scientific grants (only for the candidate(s) participating for the position of Head of Department);

h) List of patents, copyrights, licenses, acts of use and other supporting documentation related to scientific activities, if any (only for the candidate(s) participating for the position of Head of Department);

i) Identity card (original and photocopy);

j) 2 photographs 3X4;

l) Certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of rights.

Note: A person who has already submitted the above certificates to the Human Capital Management Department of the University is exempt from submitting the certificates. 

III. Competition Rules 

  • The competition will be held according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the University’s Regulation and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Institute of Hydrometeorology”, which the contestants will familiarize themselves with in the Scientific Council/Competition Commission, on the websites of the University and the Institute;
  • The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will consider: the correspondence of the contestant’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits relevant to the profile of the competitive position; as well as (by decision of the Scientific Council/Competition Commission) the results of the interview conducted with the contestant(s);
  • The results of the competition can be appealed in court, according to the applicable legislation.
