According to them, about 100 practicing lawyers, field specialists, students, and private and public sector representatives have registered for the conference, who discuss such important issues as legal issues of personal data protection, the Institute of Personal Data Protection Officer, artificial intelligence, and personal data protection, and current challenges in Georgia.

According to the Personal Data Protection Officer of the Georgian Technical University - Nino Omanadze, upon the entry into force of the law on personal data protection, a relevant service was created at the university, which has been operating within the scope of its authority for more than three months.

“As soon as the Law on Personal Data Protection came into force in Georgia, a relevant service was created at the university. Went through training and started working. First, we developed legal acts that brought our activities into compliance with the law. The conference is important to the extent that the institution of personal data protection officer is newly created in Georgia, and the IP & Tech Law Research Center is an organization operating in Europe, which has the opportunity to share information about European standards,” said Nino Omanadze.

For information: legislative amendments regarding the personal data protection officer were adopted by the Parliament in 2023.

The need to introduce this position is provided by the legal acts of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Law is already in force in EU countries.
