Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Georgia, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community and the Standing Conference of Rectors of Georgia, congratulates Georgian and foreign colleagues, the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, the rectors and scientists of accredited universities in Georgia, the Georgian Technical University, scientific-academic circles of research institutes and centers, on International Day of Science and wishes them fruitful work.

“This year marks 23 years since UNESCO announced November 10th as the International Day of Science. Since 2001, we have gathered scientists worldwide yearly to share the latest advances with the general public.

November 10th emphasizes the relevance of science in our daily lives. Progress is impossible without science, and the new generation must realize this and use all the opportunities the state provides.

Science in Georgia has gone through a difficult transitional period. There was a time when the development of technology and innovation was at serious risk.

Today, fortunately, science is a priority part of the action plan of the Government of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Minister Aleksandre Tsuladze. Promotion of science development is important in the economic development of the country, in this direction, with the initiative and support of the government, a number of projects are implemented in accredited higher education institutions in Georgia, including Georgian Technical University.

The National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, led by Academician Roin Metreveli, makes the greatest contribution to the development of science, the rapid socio-economic development, and the prosperity of Georgia.

Today, Georgian scientists work in the leading universities and largest research centers in Europe, Asia, and America. More opportunities are emerging, many more researchers, including young people, are involved in scientific research, and our ranks are filled with talented young generations. I wish them success!

Friends, I once again congratulate you on your professional day and wish you fruitful scientific work,” is stated in the address of Academician David Gurgenidze.

For information: the main goal of celebrating the International Day of Science on November 10th is to highlight the important role of science in public life, to inform citizens about the latest science developments, and to promote public involvement in the discussion of new scientific issues.
