“It is a great honor for me to participate in the competition once again announced for holding such a responsible position. The past four years in the position of head of the quality assurance service allowed me to make my modest contribution to the university’s success.
4 years ago, the university faced other challenges. We, with the support of the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, were able to eliminate the existing problems, and now we face challenges.
According to the action program presented by me to the Academic Council, the directions of positive impact of the university’s internal quality assurance system are considered: continuous improvement of the quality assurance system; competitive positioning of the Georgian Technical University at the national, regional, and international levels; continuous improvement of the development process of development and approval of various educational and scientific programs; student-centered teaching-learning and assessment; interdisciplinarity, internationalization and transdisciplinarity of scientific research processes; effectiveness of protection of intellectual property and intangible goods; strengthening of opportunities for commercialization of scientific researches; student support services; diversity of university life, including cultural and sports; adherence to the European standards and guiding principles of quality assurance established in the European higher education space.
The strengthening and implementation of the internal quality assurance mechanism are supported by the university rectorate, academic council, representative council, all structural units of the university, and at the faculty - the dean’s office, faculty council, and all auxiliary faculty structural units.
Accordingly, each employee of the university, with appropriate qualifications, within the scope of the official competence of the held position, is involved in the internal quality assurance mechanism implementation as a leader and/or executor. From this point of view, important steps have been taken in the direction of creating, optimizing, and effectively using databases for university research.
Events of various content and scale are planned and carried out at the university for all categories of personnel, to get acquainted with news, share best practices, discuss current challenges, prepare planned events, strengthen support, share important results achieved, recognition, and other purposes.
Here I will take this opportunity to thank the vice-rectors, the chancellor, the deans, and everyone who cooperated with the quality assurance service during the past 4 years, special thanks to the rector, academician David Gurgenidze for his support,” announced Davit Makhviladze in his speech.
