Rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, the Faculty of Transportation Systems and Mechanical Engineering, and the Department of Engineering Graphics and Technical Mechanics, expresses his condolences to the family over the death of the teacher and researcher - Gocha Chitaishvili. 

“At the age of 67, Gocha Chitaishvili died, an associate professor of the Department of Engineering Graphics and Technical Mechanics of the Georgian Technical University. Researcher and teacher who raised many successful and highly qualified personnel. 

Gocha Chitaishvili has been associated with the Georgian Technical University for 40 fruitful years, and during this time, he was remembered by the university community and students as a highly qualified, great-natured colleague and an excellent teacher.

We express our condolences to the Chitaishvili family, the Faculty of Transportation Systems and Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Engineering Graphics and Technical Mechanics, his friends, colleagues, and students,” – is stated in the condolence letter of the rector, David Gurgenidze.

For information: Gocha Chitaishvili was born in 1956. August 27, in Tbilisi. From 1973 to 1978, he studied at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering of the Georgian Polytechnic Institute, specializing in Metal Cutting Machines and Tools, and was awarded the qualification of an engineer-mechanic.

From 1984 until now, he worked at the Faculty of Transportation Systems and Mechanical Engineering of the Georgian Technical University and held the associate professor position.

For years, he was the deputy head of the Department of Linear Geometry and Engineering Graphics and was also the head of the Department of Engineering Graphics and Technical Mechanics. In 2014, he defended his dissertation on the topic of solving spatial geometric problems using the latest version of AutoCAD.

He was the author of many textbooks, methodological guidelines, scientific articles, and monographs.
