The Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design of the Georgian Technical University, together with German architects, is starting the new academic year with a new international project – “Frank Buken Together”.
The international project “Frank Buken/Frank Buken Together” includes an urban study of the area around Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi, where students of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design will be involved.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, Professor Nino Imnadze, students of all three levels are already preparing for the exhibition of student works on the theme of “Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design” on World Architecture Day.
Academic staff and students will also participate in the international forum – “SHARE International Architecture and Technology Forum in Tbilisi”.
Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, Professor Nino Imnadze noted:
“The Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design of the Georgian Technical University offers three bachelor’s, one master’s, and two doctoral programs at different levels of education.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, we received 220 students at various levels of education.
Among them, 180 students in the bachelor’s Georgian-language program “Architecture”; in the Russian-language bachelor’s program “Architecture” – 15; in the bachelor’s program “Fashion Design Technologies” – 25; master’s program “Architecture” - 60 students; Doctoral educational program “Architecture” - 9.
More than 15 of the accepted students are citizens of foreign countries. As in previous years, this year we have a full complement.
In the new academic year, the university and the faculty offer students interesting educational, scientific process, cultural, and sports events.
They will have the opportunity to participate in local and international projects, workshops, and competitions, such as the international contest “Architecture Prize 2024”; and nomination – “The best student project of the year”.
The organizers of the competition are “The Georgian Architects Association” and “Style” magazine; The International competition – is “Viewing the best master’s Graduate Project of 2024”, with nominations: urban planning, volumetric architecture, environmental design, restoration-reconstruction of buildings.
This event is organized by the Union of Architects of Georgia and the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design of GTU.

For information: students of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design completed an architectural project on Chavchavadze Avenue in Kutaisi, which included the rehabilitation-reconstruction of the square adjacent to the former leather and haberdashery factory.
The winner of the project will be awarded on September 26th.
Also, the faculty has planned external cognitive-practical visits to the regions of Georgia - Kakheti, Imereti, and Kartli, connected to the design tasks of the training course.
