On 23-25 October Georgian Technical University hosted international particle physics masterclass “Hands on Particle Physics”.
Hands on particle physics is huge international masterclass involving 52 countries and more than 200 universities or research centers and its main aim is to popularize particle physics, giving opportunity to youth aged 15-19 to unravel the mysteries of particle physics. Lectures from active scientists give insight in topics and methods of basic research at the fundaments of matter and forces, enabling the students to perform measurements on real data from particle physics experiments themselves.
Participants also had the opportunity to “visit” CERN with virtual tour, see scientists working on the experiment and ask them questions.
Prof. Jean-Pierre Charles Revol (CERN), Prof. Despina Hatzifotiadou (IPPOG -International Particle Physics Outreach Group Coordinator from ALICE) have been delivering the lectures during the masterclass.
The event was organized by Keti Mirziashvili (IPPOG responsible person in Georgia) and Georgian Engineering Team (GET).
