16-03-2012Italian Designer Fabrizio Giugiaro at GTU
On March 15, at GTU, famous Italian designer Fabrizio Giugiaro made the presentataion “Green City Batumi 2020” about his vision and the concept of a "Dream City". After the presentation, Dr. Arch. Fabrizio Giugiaro was awarded a Honoris Causa the degree of Honorary Doctorate of the Georgian Technical University for his outstanding achievements in the area of car architecture, technique and technologies, his drives toward innovative hybrid-electric vehicles, his world-wide contributions to trend setting design and architecture and his contribution in the development of culture, sciences and promotion of an international design school at Georgian Technical University.
Prof. Archil Prangishvili, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University delivered Fabrizio Giugiaro the Diploma of Honorary Doctorate, Medal and the symbol of the Georgian Technical University, a silver replica of the bronze statue that dates back to the 2nd century B.C. and was discovered during the archeological excavations in ancient Vani settlement.
Besides the project “Green Batumi”, during the meeting of Italian guests with students and professors at GTU were discussed the issues regarding the research, planning and implementation of the International Design School that will be established at Georgian technical University.
Among the invited officials were Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, Deputy Minister, Nodar Surguladze, Ambassador of Italian Republic in Georgia, H.E. Federica Favi, and and other officials together with the Italian delegation: representatives of Italdesign Giorgetto Giugiaro, Fabrizio Giugiaro, Alberto Fumagalli, Giuseppe Franco Busnelli, Goffredo Baduini, famous Italian expert and industrial designer, Giancarlo Perini and etc.
