The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the scientific and academic circles and students, expresses his condolences over the death of Levan Matsaberidze, a distinguished and meritorious employee and teacher of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, head of the laboratories of the Department of Engineering Physics, winner of the GTU Gold Medal, and honorary member of the Engineering Academy, and extends his condolences to his family and relatives.
“One of the oldest employees of the Georgian Technical University, a loyal and dedicated member of the team of the Department of Engineering Physics of Informatics and Control Systems, who, since 1957, has been tirelessly engaged in pedagogical work and made great efforts in educating generations, has passed away at the age of 91. Mr. Leval Matsaberidze selflessly served the Georgian Technical University for almost seven decades, a period that spanned his entire professional life.
It is hard for us to part with a colleague and senior friend who was so distinguished by warmth and love, filled with immeasurable devotion and energy. His contribution to the creation and development of the Department of Engineering Physics’ material and technical base is invaluable. Mr. Levan led the work of the laboratories of the Department of Engineering Physics with special responsibility until the end of his life, and his professional qualities always deserved the greatest respect and love from the university community.
Mr. Levan Matsaberidze’s outstanding contribution and merit, which contributed to the development of the university and the upbringing of youth, was marked by the university’s honorary and highest award - a gold medal, which we solemnly awarded him last year by the decision of the Academic Council.
The memory of Levan Matsaberidze will always be preserved by the Georgian Technical University! We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Matsaberidze family, the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems, and Mr. Levan’s relatives and colleagues”, is stated in Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze’s condolence letter.
