The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Chairman of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia, Academician David Gurgenidze, congratulates students, professors, teachers, and researchers on Christmas and New Year.

“Dear students, professors, researchers, with special responsibility and sincere gratitude, I address each of you - I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for the high professionalism shown in the past, 2025, which significantly contributed to the stable development of the Georgian Technical University, the improvement of the quality of education and institutional progress.

The past year, which once again demonstrated and confirmed the special role of the Georgian Technical University in the country’s educational and scientific development, has become a period of significant achievements, renewal, and strategic progress for our university. In addition, in 2025, the university significantly expanded international cooperation, strengthened partnerships with leading educational and research institutions, and thus even more closely connected the teaching process with practice based on science and innovation. Each step taken towards success is a step towards the success of students. It is the result of purposeful work, the high professionalism of academic and administrative staff, and a commitment to common values and development strategy. Thank you!

I would like to touch on the education reform in particular. The Georgian government has already approved the Concept of Higher Education, which is a significant stage of the reform and creates a solid foundation for the renewal of the education system. In addition, by a joint decision of the ruling team and the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze, with the direct involvement of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, and personally the Minister Givi Mikanadze, from September 1st, 2026, newly admitted students to all state universities will study for free. This step clearly confirms the firm will of the state to recognize education as the main priority of the country’s development and to create equal and decent opportunities for young people. My sincere gratitude to the Government of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, for this far-sighted, socially responsible decision. A modern, student-centered education model, strengthening quality assurance, integration of research and teaching, and active implementation of digital technologies, create a solid foundation for our graduates to be competitive both nationally and internationally. Georgian Technical University is an active participant and one of the leaders of this reform, which is a special responsibility for us. I take this opportunity to congratulate the Government of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, on the upcoming Christmas and New Year, and wish them health and success in their important work for the benefit of the country.

Dear colleagues and students, the New Year is always the beginning of new opportunities, goals, and hopes. I believe that 2026 will bring us even more success, creative ideas, and professional achievements. I wish you and your families good health, spiritual strength, peace, prosperity, and success. I am sure that with joint efforts, the Georgian Technical University will continue to meet the challenges of the times with dignity and further strengthen its place in the modern education space.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!” is said in the congratulatory message of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze.
