By decree of the Government of Georgia, January 5th and 6th, 2026 were declared holidays. The relevant decree was published on December 23rd.
As stated in the document, the decree does not apply to financial obligations to be fulfilled by persons subject to the supervision of the National Bank of Georgia and to activities related to state procurements provided for by the Law of Georgia “On State Procurement”. Accordingly, they do not rest on these days.
According to the same decree, public agencies will decide for themselves which functions they need to perform and in what form they will apply the said decree to their activities.
“The administrative body shall determine the services/employees under its jurisdiction/in its system to whom this decree shall not apply, if the performance of their functions is an urgent necessity for the exercise of state power and the normal functioning of society,” the decree states.
