“FAB School Academy” - GTU Fablab Launches a New Educational Project
The Georgian Technical University Fablab (FABLAB - business incubator) is launching a new initiative, the “FAB School Academy” project. This is a modern, innovative educational space for young people interested in engineering, technology, and creative discovery.

The main goal of “FAB School Academy” is to popularize engineering fields, develop technological thinking among the youth, and create an environment where young engineers can practically realize their ideas. Within the program, those who wish can master various technologies, work with modern equipment, undergo practical training, participate in innovative projects, and develop entrepreneurial approaches.

Giorgi Prangishvili, head of the Fablab at the Georgian Technical University, notes that the “FAB School Academy” is not only a space for acquiring technical knowledge, but also a platform that will help young people develop innovative ideas from concept to real product. According to him, the project is aimed at schoolchildren, students, and all young people who are interested in engineering, design, technology, and startups.

The “FAB School Academy” project is a logical continuation of the ongoing innovation processes at our university. I would especially like to note the crucial role of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, in implementing this initiative. It was his strategic vision and multifaceted support that created an educational platform that simultaneously combines the most modern approaches to engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship.

The Rector’s active involvement is fully consistent with the university’s priority to contribute to the deepening of the knowledge of the younger generation, the development of technological competencies, and the strengthening of the innovation ecosystem. “FAB School Academy” is a practical expression of this policy: a space where each young person can enrich their creative potential, master modern technologies, and become a competitive engineer.

We are confident that this support will continue to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of FAB School Academy in the future. The goal of this joint effort is to create an educational environment that will play a significant role in determining Georgia’s technological future,” says Giorgi Prangishvili.

The rector of the Georgian Technical University congratulates the Fablab team on launching a new project. As Academician David Gurgenidze states, this initiative is an important step towards the development of the country’s engineering and technological sphere, especially against the background that the state actively supports innovative education, technological research, and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, which ensures the real utilization of the country’s engineering and technological potential. According to the rector, the project’s goal is to support young engineers in Georgia, deepen technological competencies, and popularize the engineering field.

“Fablab is an integral part of the university space and unites modern technologies, engineering, and creative research. “FAB School Academy” is an additional platform for young people - future engineers or those who are interested in the field. Here, the youth will gain knowledge and develop practical skills, prototype new ideas, and strengthen entrepreneurial thinking. I am confident that “FAB School Academy” will become part of an innovative ecosystem that will create the foundation for the entrepreneurial and technological future of the country. I congratulate the Fablab team on the launch of another new and, I hope, successful project,” says Academician David Gurgenidze.

Within the framework of the “FAB School Academy”, workshops, hackathons, educational courses, individual mentoring, and practical work in a real engineering environment are planned. The project implementation will begin shortly.

The “FAB School Academy” will accept students aged 8 to 16. The academy’s curriculum consists of four interconnected modules: 1. Robotics - 3D modeling, device design, and robot creation; 2. Drones - control, assembly, and programming of unmanned aerial vehicles; 3. Entrepreneurial psychology - development of entrepreneurial thinking, the ability to work with emotions and correctly direct energy in projects; 4. Mathematics - practical calculations, geometry, and algorithms that complement engineering knowledge.

The goal of the “FAB School Academy” is practice-oriented education. Children use modern tools and equipment, work with 3D printers, laser machines, and electronics. Each lesson is a step from an idea to creating a real device. All students of the academy will be funded for the summer camp program of the “FAB School Academy”.
