A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between Georgian Technical University and SISECAM Holding Company. The document, signed by GTU Vice-Rector Professor Tamar Tsereteli and SISECAM Director Olgun Taşdemir, outlines the plans to implement joint research projects, promote practical courses for students and academic staff at the company, develop technological innovations, and support initiatives based on shared interests.

At the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to jointly develop initiatives based on common interests and set concrete steps for future partnership. As part of the event, a delegation from GTU, led by Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, paid an official working visit to the SISECAM factory “Mina”.

According to the GTU Vice-Rector, SISECAM is one of the largest industrial groups in the world, ranking among the top five worldwide in glass packaging and flat glass production, eighth in soda ash production, and the largest global player in the chromium compounds production.

According to Professor Tamar Tsereteli, cooperation with the company will be particularly important for the areas of chemical technology, materials science, mechanical engineering, and logistics.

“The Georgian Technical University administration is confident that active cooperation with the company SISECAM will primarily provide new development opportunities for our students and graduates. The partnership will significantly strengthen the synthesis of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, which, considering the dynamic requirements of the modern labor market, is significantly important. It is noteworthy that many students and graduates of the GTU are already employed in the production structures of SISECAM, which indicates the effectiveness of the cooperation between the university and the company. Such practical experience allows students to develop professional skills in a modern technological environment, upgrade their qualifications, and become more competitive in both the local and international markets. The signing of the memorandum between the university and the company is the basis for a multifaceted and strategic cooperation that will contribute to the development of quality education, strengthening innovative directions, and even closer ties between the higher education sector and industry”, says Tamar Tsereteli.
