The Georgian Technical University Rector Awarded the GTU Gold Medal and Honorary Diploma to Outstanding Employees in Education and Research

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, based on the Academic Council decision, awarded honorary awards to outstanding employees in the field of education and research for their special services to the university.
The GTU Gold Medal was awarded to the Scientist-Coordinator of the Educational and Research Base at the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development, Professor Teimuraz Kunchulia, whose contribution to the development of mining sciences, modern research, and innovative educational models at the faculty is significantly important.
In addition, for his successful scientific work and special contribution to strengthening the university’s research areas, Professor of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, Academician of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Edisher Kvesitadze, and for his contribution to improving professional activity and engineering education of students, Invited Professor of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering Sergo Karibov were awarded an GTU honorary diploma.
As the Rector of GTU noted in his speech, the support and appreciation of the scientists and researchers who contribute to the growth of the university’s local and international reputation is extremely important - recognizing their contribution serves to strengthen the academic and research culture and, at the same time, makes the institution’s development model even more transparent and stable.
“The Georgian Technical University has always relied on the tireless work of those people who have created a high standard of science, education, and professional ethics. Today, it is crucial to appreciate the work of each outstanding scientist, professor, and researcher, not only a worthy recognition of their personal merits but also an essential message from the university community: that knowledge, dedication, professionalism, and integrity are our most important values. It is our duty to respect the work of those people who have created a solid foundation for the university’s development and its effective positioning in the international arena. It is precisely such individuals who determine the real strength of the institution, its academic and scientific authority and future,” said Academician David Gurgenidze.
The award, established on May 19th, 2022 - the GTU “Gold Medal” is awarded for exceptional contributions to the Georgian Technical University, based on the nomination of the Rector and the decision of the Academic Council. Since its inception, this award has been awarded to more than 70 scientists and researchers, including both Georgian and foreign citizens.
