Representatives of the “Holiday Inn Tbilisi” Hotel Conducted a Workshop for Students
Representatives of the “Holiday Inn Tbilisi” Hotel conducted a workshop for students of the Sustainable Mountain Tourism and Hospitality Management educational program of the Georgian Technical University, with the direct involvement of professors and teachers.

The workshop aimed to put the theoretical knowledge gained during the hospitality industry course at the university into practice and to familiarize students with the specifics of one of the capital’s large hotel complexes on site, was organized by the Career Development Department of the GTU Educational Process Management Service and at the initiative of the GTU Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development.

Students of the Georgian Technical University received comprehensive information about the history of the “Holiday Inn Tbilisi” brand, the hotel’s development, and its positioning in the international network. Hotel representatives explained to the young people in detail the operational mechanisms operating in the hospitality sector, service standards, and the work processes behind them. The students were allowed to analyze in depth the market segment on whose requirements and needs are oriented the hotel’s activities.

In addition, within the workshop, the students were introduced to the room fund on-site, viewed rooms of different categories, and evaluated their internal structure, service elements, and pricing specifics; and received information about the hotel’s marketing strategies, loyalty programs, and brand advertising activities. The young people listened with particular interest to information about human resources policy, employee selection, and hotel development opportunities, as well as were acquainted with career growth prospects and active vacancies in the industry.

According to Professor Tamar Koblianidze, Head of the GTU Quality Assurance Service of the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development, such educational and practical activities are crucial for students not only in terms of deepening their knowledge, but also in terms of professional readiness, because direct contact with the real working environment contributes to the formation of a professional vision in the youth, strengthens their motivation and practical skills, and also helps them reveal their potential, better assess their capabilities and prepare for future career challenges.

As Associate Professor Nato Katamadze, Head of the Career Development Department of the GTU Learning Process Management Service, notes, the main task of the Georgian Technical University is to provide students with effective support in the direction of career development, to connect young people with companies and organizations through partnerships with various industries, where it will be possible to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice.

According to her, without close cooperation between the university and industry, a student will not be able to acquire the skills necessary for employment and career growth, and without this cooperation, the development of the sectoral economy and the business sector is impossible.

According to Nato Katamadze, cooperation with industry is a priority for the Georgian Technical University, as it creates a sustainable educational environment where theory and practice are organically connected.
