An Internal University Arm Wrestling Tournament Held at GTU
An internal university arm wrestling tournament was held at the Georgian Technical University, in which a total of 140 students from 11 faculties of GTU competed.

The university arm wrestling tournament was held in the 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, and 100+ kg weight categories, both right and left-handed.

Representatives of the administration of the Georgian Technical University, deans of faculties, professors and students cheered on the students competing in the tournament. During the tournament, young people who won gold, silver and bronze medals in each weight category were identified.

By the decision of the tournament’s panel of judges, the students won gold medals in the tense matches: Beka Jishkariani in the 60 kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands; Giorgi Khabuliani in the 70 kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands, and Irakli Ichirauli with the right hand; Nodar Shankulashvili in the 80 kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands; Giorgi Khizanishvili in the 90 kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands, and Lasha Maisuradze with the right hand; Nodar Shankulashvili in the 100 kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands, and Tazo Mekokishvili in the 100+ kg weight category, competing with both left and right hands.

In addition, the jury awarded the unconditional victory and the gold cup in the team competition to the GTU Faculty of Business Technologies.

The winning students of the university arm wrestling tournament were congratulated on their victory and awarded with awards by the deans of the faculties, the head of the GTU Student Services, Culture and Sports Department, and the president of the university student self-government.

According to the head of the GTU Student Services, Culture and Sports Department, Levan Pipia, it is gratifying when students continue the sports traditions of the Georgian Technical University. According to him, the organization of large-scale university sports events with the active involvement of students contributes to the popularization of a healthy lifestyle, the revival of university traditions, and the demonstration of students’ versatile talents and skills.
