A series of training courses was held at the Mentoring and Tutoring Center of the Georgian Technical University, aimed at strengthening the student support system and developing the professional skills of tutors.
The training series, which took place from October 29th to November 11th, was coordinated by the Technology and Grant Projects Office of the Georgian Technical University.
A total of 16 tutors and 5 trainers were trained within the framework of the training series, who will actively engage in retraining new tutors in the future and thus contribute to the sustainable activities of the newly established University Center for Mentoring and Tutoring.
The GTU Technology and Grant Projects Office explains that the mission of the Mentoring and Tutoring Center is to actively work towards promoting the well-being of students, their involvement in university life, and successful integration, and the project, which aims to strengthen the aforementioned center, is implemented within the framework of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program in the fields of education, youth and sport, under the international project - PROMENT (Tutoring & Mentoring Program in Georgian and Ukrainian HEIs).
“The training series was led by the founder of “Coach Academy”, certified coach Ekaterine Babunashvili, who has many years of experience in youth leadership, communication, and self-development. The training included interactive sessions, role-playing games, and practical tasks, which helped participants better understand the role of a tutor, the principles of mentoring, ways of effective communication with students, and methods of promoting the rapid and effective integration of students into university life,” the Technology and Grant Projects Office noted.
In the near future, 12 different mentoring and tutoring schemes will be launched at the Georgian Technical University, enabling first-year students and international students to integrate into university life more easily and quickly, while focusing on academic success and personal development.
