GTU’s Top-Ranked Students Won the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation Award and a Monthly Scholarship
A student won the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation’s monthly scholarship, and in addition, the applicant with the highest competitive score enrolled in GTU through this year’s Unified National Exams, a current active first-year bachelor, became the winner of the Foundation’s award.

The Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation scholarship recipients were the following bachelors with the highest academic performance from faculties recognized as a priority by the Foundation in the spring semester of the last academic year: Guljan Japarova - from the Faculty of Construction, Ucha Mchedlishvili - from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, Mariam Bakradze - from the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development, and Shota Ivelashvili - from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies. The Foundation’s award was presented to the applicant with the highest competitive score in the 2025 Unified National Exams - Lika-Maryam Shubitidze, who is a first-year student in the Bachelor of Architecture educational program.

The scholarship recipients and prize-winning students were awarded certificates by the Vice-Rector of the University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, and the Head of Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation Projects, renowned photographer Goga Chanadiri, at a meeting held at the Georgian Technical University. The award ceremony was attended by students, deans, professors, and teachers of the relevant faculties, as well as representatives of the university administration and the Educational Foundation.

As Goga Chanadiri noted, all four scholarship recipients of the Georgian Technical University will receive a 300-GEL scholarship from the Educational Foundation every month for five months during the fall semester, while the Foundation will provide a one-time award of 1,500 GEL to the prize-winning student.

The GTU Vice-Rector congratulated the students with the highest ranking on their new success. According to Tamar Tsereteli, being a beneficiary of the Educational Fund provides a great incentive not only to the award-winning young people but also increases motivation among other students of the Georgian Technical University.

“Obtaining scholarships is a strong incentive not only for the young beneficiaries, but also for their teachers and other students of the university. On behalf of the Georgian Technical University and its rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we thank the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation for this important initiative and encouragement of learning. It is gratifying that the work of students is so appreciated and that, in addition to the guaranteed state scholarship, they are also awarded by an independent educational foundation for high academic performance. The scholarship is an important support for all young people focused on learning. It is they who should see that learning is valued in our society. The goal of the Georgian Technical University is to give each young person the opportunity to achieve success through their own work and results, and to use the knowledge they have acquired for the country’s development. We congratulate our students on this well-deserved recognition and wish them even greater success,” said Tamar Tsereteli.

According to the students who received the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation Award, it is important in many ways when the Educational Foundation awards scholarships to young people for their high academic performance. As the youth noted, this is one of the best supports for students to constantly have a desire to learn new things, to feel that studying well is appreciated in society, which, they say, is necessary on the path to becoming a professional.

After the awards were presented, the Foundation representatives spoke to the students and professors about the goals and significance of the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation Scholarship Program, as well as the events and projects planned for the current academic year.

According to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and partner higher education institutions, including the Georgian Technical University, the Tamaz Bekaia Educational Foundation provides a semester-long, incentive, monthly scholarship to bachelors with the highest academic performance in priority faculties, and annually awards a one-time bonus to applicants enrolled in partner universities with the highest competitive scores as a result of the Unified National Exams.
