The Scientific-Research Institute for Cultural Preservation and Technological Development of Georgian State Languages of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for filling the following positions:
- Head of the Laboratory of Georgian and Abkhazian Language Resources and Technologies - 0.5 staff units
Applications will be accepted from December 15th, 2025 to December 17th, 2025 inclusive, from 10:00 to 05:00 p.m., at the address: Tbilisi, Merab Kostava St. No. 77, Georgian Technical University Administrative Building, 3rd floor, room No. 338, responsible person: David Gegia, tel: 577 558 829.
The competition will be held on December 19th, 2025. The initial results of the competition will be published no later than December 19th, 2025, by the Scientific Council in a visible place, on the university and institute’s
website.
Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council until December 24th, 2025 inclusive.
The Scientific Council of the Scientific Research Institute for Cultural Preservation and Technological Development of State Languages will submit the candidate selected for the position of Director to the Academic Council of the Georgian Technical University for approval no later than December 29th, 2025.
According to the University Charter, the Academic Council, by a qualified majority of 2/3 of the votes, by secret ballot, individually decides on the issue of holding an administrative position by a person aged 65 and over (note: refers to the position of director of an independent scientific research unit). A person of the specified age must additionally submit the consent of the Academic Council to the Scientific Council of the Institute. For this purpose, he/she must submit an application to the Human Resources Management and Records Service of the University by November 28th, 2025. The person’s presence at the Academic Council during the consideration of his issue is mandatory, otherwise the issue will not be considered.

II. Competition conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
a) The position of Director of an independent scientific research unit may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for the Chief Scientific Officer of this independent scientific research unit. It is desirable that the contestants have research experience in the direction of language resources and technologies, the development of Georgian and Abkhazian language resources and technologies, logic, language, and artificial intelligence, including the development of the Georgian language and isomorphic mathematical theory of thought, as well as the logical grammar of the Georgian language. If a person does not hold the position of Chief Scientific Officer of an independent scientific research unit, in case of holds the position of Director of an independent scientific research unit, he/she is also considered to be elected to the position of Chief Scientific Officer.
The position of Director of an Institute can be held by the same person only twice in a row.
b) The position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit (Head of a Laboratory) of an independent scientific research unit can hold a person who meets the requirements established for a Chief Scientific Worker or Senior Scientific Worker of this independent scientific research unit. It is desirable for the candidate to have research experience in the field of language resources and technologies, development of Georgian and Abkhazian language resources and technologies. If a person does not hold the position of Chief Scientific Worker or Senior Scientific Worker of an independent scientific research unit, in case of election to the position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit of the Institute, he/she shall also be considered elected to the relevant scientific position.
c) The position of Chief Scientific Staff can hold a person who has a Doctorate or equivalent academic degree, and at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities.
d) A person who has a doctorate or an equivalent academic degree may hold the position of senior scientific employee.
A person will be elected to the position of head of an independent scientific research unit and head of a scientific structural unit of an independent scientific research unit for a term of 5 (five) years.
The applicant must personally (or through a representative) submit:
a) a duly completed and signed application (the form will be published on the Institute’s
website)
b) a document confirming a doctorate or equivalent academic degree (original and copy);
c) a document(s) confirming scientific and research experience (experience) certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) a list of scientific and educational-methodological works, certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit;
e) an action plan (must be submitted only by the applicant participating in the position of director of an independent scientific and research unit);
f) an identity card (original and photocopy);
g) 2 photographs 3X4;
h) Certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability, and certificate of deprivation of rights.
Note: A person who has already submitted the aforementioned certificates to the University’s Human Resources Management and Records Service is exempt from submitting the certificates.
III. Rules for conducting the competition
- The competition will be held according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the University Charter, and the “Regulations of the Scientific Research Institute for Cultural Protection and Technological Development of State Languages”, which the contestants will familiarize themselves with in the Scientific Council, on the University and the Institute’s website.
- The Scientific Council will consider: the correspondence of the contestant’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience and merits relevant to the profile of the competitive position; as well as (by decision of the Scientific Council) the results of the interview conducted with the contestant(s).
- The results of the competition can be appealed in court, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
