Georgian Technical University, Together With Caucasus International University, Won the Grand Prix of “Studfest 2025”
Georgian Technical University, in collaboration with Caucasus International University, won the title of winner and the Grand Prix at “Studfest 2025”. The winning higher education institutions and participating students were awarded at the final event of the Studfest.

The “Studfest” jury, after summing up the points obtained in the festival events held in two stages and four directions (education, sports, culture, and volunteering), awarded the “Studfest 2025” Grand Prix simultaneously to two higher education institutions - Georgian Technical University and Caucasus International University.

At the closing event, Givi Mikanadze, Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, congratulated the participants of “Studfest 2025” on their victory and emphasized the importance of promoting and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among young people. As the Minister noted, “Studfest” is one of the largest youth initiatives implemented by the Ministry’s Youth Agency, together with the Tbilisi Municipality Hall and the Association of Student Organizations of Georgia.

The closing ceremony of the festival and the awarding of the winners were attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, rectors of higher education institutions participating in the student festival, representatives of administrations and students, including the President of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Zurab Gudavadze, professors and teachers, the President of the GTU Student Self-Government, David Leshkasheli, the Head of the Student Services, Culture and Sports Department, Levan Pipia, the winning university teams, creative groups and students, as well as the Acting Head of the Youth Agency, Vakhtang Baakashvili, the Head of the City Service for Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of the Tbilisi City Hall, Irakli Gvilava, and guests.

In the sports tournaments held within the framework of this year’s “Studfest”, student teams and individual athletes of the Georgian Technical University competed with dignity in various sports and won: 7 gold medals – boys’ volleyball; boys’ and girls’ padel; boys’ tennis; seven-a-side rugby; wrestling in the 100 kg weight category; boys' sprint; 9 silver medals - arm wrestling; girls’ volleyball; girls’ and boys’ shot put; judo in the 81 kg weight category; boys’ and girls’ chess; boys’ and girls’ handball; 6 bronze medals - bowling; judo in the 66 kg and 73 kg weight categories; girls’ volleyball; rafting; mini football.

Within the framework of the second stage of the festival, one of the best results in the competitions held in the direction of culture was shown by the student self-creation groups of the Georgian Technical University, which won 4 gold and one bronze.

The unconditional winner of the folk song competition was the GTU boys’ folklore group “Roots”; in the pop song competition (duets) - the girls’ duet of the creative group “Music Art House”; in the pop song competition (solo performers) - the soloist of “Music Art House” Gvantsa Gigashvili, and in the band competition - the band “Mare” of “Music Art House”. The bronze medal was won by the GTU choreographic ensemble “Merani”.

Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, congratulates the winning sports teams and their coaches, the university creative groups and their artistic directors, and all students of the university on the successful completion of “Studfest 2025”.

“I would like to sincerely congratulate both universities and their students, who won the Studfest Grand Prix, on receiving this highest award. Together with them, I would like to congratulate all higher education institutions and young people on the successful closing of this year’s Student Festival. We believe that holding such large-scale student events contributes to the popularization of university self-creation and sports, the revival of university traditions, and demonstrates the talents and skills of young people. I would like to express my special gratitude to our students, who spared no effort to perform with dignity in intense tournaments and art competitions and brought another great victory to their alma mater. We are proud that our students continue the world-famous sports and art traditions of the Georgian Technical University with great love and devotion,” says Rector David Gurgenidze.

More than 15,000 students from public and private higher education institutions operating in Georgia participated in the large-scale youth festival “Studfest 2025”, and more than 400 winners were identified and awarded prizes and relevant certificates.
