The Scientific Council of the Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the position of Head and scientific positions of the following structural unit:

• Department of Mathematical Cybernetics: Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 Staff Unit

• Department of Stochastic Analysis and Mathematical Modeling: Senior Scientific Employee – 1.0 Staff Unit Scientific Employee – 1.0 Staff Unit

• Nanocomposites Laboratory: Laboratory Head / Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 Staff Unit Scientific Employee – 1.0 Staff Unit

Applications will be accepted from October 13th, 2025 - October 16th, inclusive, from 10:00 to 05:00 p.m., at the address: Tbilisi, Zurab Anjaparidze First Lane No. 6 (former Sandro Euli Street), Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics, first floor, room No. 130, contact person, Giorgi Mumladze, tel.: 598 42 98 33.

The Scientific Council of the Institute will conduct an interview and vote with the candidate(s) selected for the vacant position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit on October 20th, 2025. The results of the vote will be announced by the Scientific Council immediately after the vote on October 20th and will be posted in a prominent place at the Institute and published on the Institute’s website.

The competition for the vacant position of Chief Scientist, Senior Scientist and Scientific Employee will be held by the Competition Commission on October 21st, 2025. The initial results of the competition will be published no later than October 21st, 2025, by the Competition Commission in a prominent place and on the Institute's website.

Applications/complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council/Competition Commission until October 24th, 2025.

Additional information to participate in the competition (contestant’s form and application, time and place of the competition) will be published on the institute’s website.

II. Competition conditions

Main conditions of the competition:

a) The position of the head of the scientific structural unit of the institute (head of the laboratory) may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for the chief scientific employee or senior scientific employee of this independent scientific-research unit. If a person does not hold the position of chief scientific employee or senior scientific employee, in case of election to the position of the head of the scientific structural unit of the institute, he is also considered elected to the relevant scientific position;

b) The position of the chief scientific employee may be held by a person who has a doctorate or an equivalent academic degree, and at least 6 years of experience in scientific research activities;

c) The position of the senior scientific employee may be held by a person who has a doctorate or an equivalent academic degree;

d) A person who has a master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree can hold the position of a scientific employee.
A person is elected to the head/scientific position of all listed structural units for a term of 5 years.

A person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:

a) a duly completed and signed application and questionnaire (the forms will be published on the institute’s website, as well as documentation confirming the information presented in them: diploma, certificate, etc. (original and copy);

b) a document confirming scientific/academic degree (original and copy);

c) a document confirming scientific research experience (experience) certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;

d) List of scientific and educational-methodical works, certified by the signature and seal of a competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit (if any);

e) Identity card (original and photocopy);

f) 2 photographs 3X4;

g) Certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of rights.

Note: A person who has already submitted the above-mentioned certificates to the University’s Human Resources Management and Records Service is exempt from submitting the certificates.

III. Competition Rules

• The competition will be held according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education”, the University Charter and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Vladimir Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics”, which the contestant will familiarize themselves with at the Scientific Council/Competition Commission, on the University and the Institute’s website.

• The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will consider: the correspondence of the contestant’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience and merits relevant to the profile of the competitive position; as well as (by decision of the Scientific Council/Competition Commission), the results of the interview conducted with the contestant(s).

• The results of the competition may be appealed in court, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
