Dante Alighieri Society Free Courses for GTU Students

The “Dante’s Cabinet” located on the grounds of the Georgian Technical University offers you a unique opportunity to take free Italian language courses, which are intended for Georgian Technical University students who want to study Italian with the following goals:

  • Continuing studies at Italian universities;
  • Participation in Erasmus + exchange programs;
  • At the end of the course, if you pass the exams, you will receive the ADA (Dante Alighieri Society Certificate);
  • Obtaining the PLIDA international certificate confirming knowledge of the Italian language.

This international project was launched in 2022 and is being implemented in its third cycle during the 2025-2026 academic year, within the framework of the funding obtained by the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee in a competitive project entitled: “International Educational Platform Dante.global Experimental Courses for Teachers and Students: Development of Interdisciplinary Teaching of the Italian Language at the Georgian Technical University”.

The international project is being implemented in cooperation with the Dante Alighieri Society and the Georgian Technical University. The project is funded by the Rome headquarters of the Dante Alighieri Society International Network.

The project envisages teaching Italian at levels A, A2, and B1 of language competence over 2 semesters, in free courses, which will allow 90 students enrolled through an open competition to become students of the ADA international Italian language course and holders of a membership card of the Dante Alighieri Society worldwide network without leaving the country.

The selection of students for the free Italian language courses will be carried out through an open competition, in which any student and/or employee of any faculty of the Georgian Technical University can participate (maximum 15 employees!)

Important information regarding the first, second, and third cycles of the project:

Since, within the framework of the grant project, the third cycle of free Italian language teaching is offered to 90 GTU students (students or employees), the opportunity to participate in the competition again and continue studying at the A2 and B1 levels of the Italian language will also be given to those students who, after completing the first and second cycles of the project in the 2022-23 and 2024-25 academic years, already possess the competence of knowledge of the Italian language at the A1 level (maximum 15 students (GTU students or employees).

Free Italian language courses will be conducted using a hybrid teaching method, allowing students to learn Italian both online and in a classroom setting.
